The Dhaka University National Model United Nations (DUNMUN) 2026 concluded today with its grand closing ceremony at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building, University of Dhaka. Organized by the Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA), the conference brought together over 500 delegates across 12 committees to engage in diplomatic discourse, debate pressing global issues and build critical skills in negotiation and consensus-building. The closing ceremony recognized the dedication, diplomacy, and intellectual engagement shown by delegates throughout the conference.
Mr. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, Honorable Minister of Finance and Minister of
Planning, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was further distinguished by the presence of Special Guests Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of the
University of Dhaka, Ms. Carol Flore-Smereczniak, UN Resident Coordinator ad interim in Bangladesh and Mr. Alberto Giovanetti, Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh. Mr. Qingfeng Zhang, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)attended the ceremony as Guest of Honor, alongside Alumni Guest Mr. Rakibuzzaman Rakib, former President of DUMUNA.
DUNMUN 2026 helped young people build leadership, diplomacy and critical-thinking skills. By debating global issues and working together in committee sessions, delegates learned to solve complex problems from different perspectives. Ensuring DUMUNA’s commitment on building a knowledgeable society and welcoming everyone in DUNMUN 2027, Secretary-General Ahtab Jamil Mahin declared the conference closed. DUMUNA remains committed to raising smart, vocal, and globally aware future leaders. The closing ceremony celebrated the hard work of all
delegates, chairs, organizers and volunteers who made the event a success.
