Atharo Ana Bangaliana’ Makes Grand Debut in London, Bringing Bangali Together Through Heritage and Culture
London, August 16, 2026: A new platform dedicated to celebrating Bangali heritage, culture and identity made its grand debut in London on Sunday, bringing together Bangali from different walks of life in an evening of literature, music, poetry and traditional Bangaliana hospitality.
Presented by Mukur Advertisement Design and Media, ‘Atharo Ana Bangaliana’ (AAB), The Global Bangaliana Community, officially began its journey at a colourful gathering held at the prestigious Ayra Restaurant in Romford, London.
The initiative seeks to reconnect Bangali around the world with their cultural roots while creating a global platform for the exchange and promotion of Bangali art, literature, music, culture and heritage.
The event began with guest registration and the opening of the venue, followed by the main programme at 5 pm. The evening brought together prominent figures from the Bangali cultural and literary community in London and beyond.
A major highlight of the programme was the warm reception given to the new members of AAB. Renowned economist and author Dr. Selim Jahan delivered a keynote address on the organization's philosophy and its long-term vision. He spoke about the importance of preserving cultural identity and strengthening connections among Bangali living across the world.
The literary segment featured poetic presentations by acclaimed poets Shamim Azad, Mike Raggett and Kaberi Mukherjee, adding depth and reflection to the evening's cultural programme.
Popular singer Joy Shahriar captivated the audience with his musical performance, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere throughout the evening.
Representing AAB, Naima Parvin, Aritra Das, Laboni Rahman, Banani Sarker, Farzana Tumpa and Rhodela Das also addressed the gathering and shared their thoughts on the organisation's vision and its role in bringing the global Bangali community together.
Among the distinguished guests was Barrister Tareq Chowdhury, President of the London Bangla Press Club.
The evening concluded with a traditional Bangali dinner, allowing guests to enjoy familiar flavours and the warmth of Bangali hospitality.
AAB Core Committee
The initiative is being led by a group of culture and literature enthusiasts committed to strengthening Bangali cultural connections across borders.
The members of the AAB Core Committee are Rasheda Bakul, Farah Zahir, Sheikh Selim, Naima Parvin, Banani Sarker, Jamal Ahmed, Laboni Rahman, Monija Begum, Monzur Hoque, Rashida Karim, Reaz Alam, Reshma Sultana, Fateema Rimi, Sumaiya Hasi and Saleh Khan.
The launch of the new global Bangali platform received support from Epsilon Records, The Oniket Bulletin, Kothar Kagoj and Shobdo Mukur.
The inaugural gathering marked the beginning of AAB's journey to build a wider global Bangali community where heritage and contemporary cultural expression can come together, creating stronger connections among Bangali across generations and geographical boundaries.
