How I Trained My Focus: 3 Simple Tips You Can Use Too !!
Ever find it hard to focus with so many distractions?
I used to struggle with that too. But here’s the thing — focus is like a muscle. You can train it, and it gets easier with practice.
Let me share some of the methods I’ve used over the past two years to build my focus.
1. Learn to Say “No”
I know, saying "no" can feel awkward. It doesn’t come naturally.
But if you want to protect your time and energy, it’s essential. Start by saying “no” to small things, and gradually work your way up.
Here are a few questions I ask myself to decide when to say “no”:
↳ What problem does this solve?
↳ How often does it happen, and how important is it?
↳ Does it align with my priorities?
Saying no more often will give you the space to focus on what really matters.
2. Focus on What You Can Control
Rather than just setting goals, I focus on the actions I can control.
Let me give you an example: I wanted to grow strawberries on my balcony in Paris.
I couldn’t control the weather, but I could water the plants and remove weeds.
By focusing on what I could do daily, I gave myself the best chance for success.
The same principle works for any goal. Break it down into actions you can take every day, and you’ll start seeing results faster.
3. Make Focus a Daily Habit
Every day, I ask myself, "Did I work on what really mattered today?" This helps me stay on track and make small improvements.
By checking in with yourself regularly, you create a feedback loop that helps you focus better over time.
The more you focus on doing less at a time, the better you’ll perform.
Your brain will thank you! Just like training a muscle, improving focus takes daily practice, but it’s absolutely worth it.
