I hear this all the time...
"𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝑨𝒅𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒇𝒐𝒓 Renovations & Remodeling"
Honestly, most of the time, that's not the real problem.
I've looked at plenty of Renovations & Remodeling accounts where the campaigns weren't actually that bad.
► The keywords made sense.
► The ads were decent.
► The budget was reasonable.
► But once I started checking the tracking, everything changed.
I found things like:
❌ Phone calls weren't being recorded.
❌ Contact forms weren't showing up as conversions.
❌ Offline jobs never made it back into Google Ads.
❌ Some businesses had no conversion tracking at all.
So Google was trying to optimize campaigns without knowing what was turning into actual customers.
Think about that for a second.
You're asking Google's algorithm to find more of something... but you're never telling it what success actually looks like.
That's a tough job for any platform.
This is why I spend just as much time on measurement as I do on campaign management.
A typical setup for me includes:
✅ 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠
✅ Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
✅ Google Tag Manager (GTM)
✅ Offline Conversion Tracking
✅ Server-Side Tracking
Once the tracking is right, everything else gets easier.
You stop making decisions based on guesses.
You know which keywords are bringing in real calls.
Which campaigns are producing paying customers.
And where your budget should actually go.
If you're running Google Ads for a Renovations & Remodeling business, here's one question I'd ask before anything else:
Can you clearly see which clicks turned into booked jobs and actual revenue?
If the answer is no, or even "I'm not sure," I'd start there before changing bids, budgets, or ad copy.
Good campaigns matter.
But good data is what makes good campaigns possible.
What's been the biggest challenge you've faced with Google Ads for a local service business?
I'm curious to hear your experience.
