Most people think cold email fails because of domains.
Honestly, that was true years ago.
Today?
Most campaigns fail because the targeting is broken.
You can have:
• Perfect SPF
• Proper DKIM
• Healthy DMARC
• Aged domains
• Warm inboxes
…but if you're sending the wrong message to the wrong people, nothing will save the campaign.
Over the last few months working with email infrastructure and outreach setups, I’ve noticed something:
Deliverability gets attention.
Qualification gets ignored.
A campaign usually struggles because:
- The ICP is too broad
- Leads aren’t properly filtered
- Messaging sounds generic
- Offers don’t match the prospect
- Teams chase volume instead of relevance
Infrastructure matters. A lot.
But infrastructure only gets you into the room.
Your targeting and messaging decide whether people reply.
Cold email in 2026 is less about “sending more” and more about “understanding better.”
Quality conversations will always outperform mass outreach.
What do you think is the biggest reason most cold email campaigns fail today?
