🌴 Disconnecting? Yes, we can! Well, kind of... 🙃🤷
I've got a confession to make - I'm not the best at disconnecting. However, I recently gave it a shot, and guess what? It turned out to be quite the journey! 🚀 With the vacation season upon us, I wanted to share my experience and a few tips that might just make your upcoming getaway even better. 🏖️
Disconnecting is the perfect way to reconnect, and here are my 3 tips for you:
1. Activate your out-of-office: Sounds basic, but when I became an entrepreneur, I stopped using an out-of-office. I still read my emails anyway and I'm always on standby for emergencies, so why should I turn on my out-of-office? This time I changed tactics. I activated my out-of-office on all my accounts and discovered that I received fewer emails every day. The perfect solution to enjoy my well-deserved break! 📧🌴
2. Set boundaries by learning how to say no: For someone who usually says "yes" to every opportunity or question, saying "no" was a groundbreaking revelation. I communicated my unavailability clearly and learned that setting boundaries doesn't hinder progress; it enhances it. 🚫🌐
3. Welcome the digital detox: My relationship with technology is pretty intense, as you might have guessed. However, during my getaway, I decided to check my emails once a day and only reply if the house was on fire. Guess what? I only had to reply a few times and I had an amazing vacation! 🏖️
Whether you're a fellow entrepreneur or someone in need of a proper break, remember that mastering disconnection is a journey, not a destination. Disconnecting is an art we can all learn and master. If I can do it, everyone can… 👋
I'm already connected again - aka back to work - but if you have additional tips or you would like to share the view from your 'holiday work spot' … drop them in the comments below. Let's inspire each other to find that perfect balance. 🤗
