Just wrapped up an online challenge offer with a client that raked in well over HALF a million bucks in less than 3 weeks.

And let me tell ya…

I've never hustled so hard in such a short time.

We're not just talking email marketing here.

I'm talking ads writing, SMS, sales tracking, video scripts, sales pages, email automations, and a TON of other stuff.

I truly had to use everything I had learned about copy and marketing in the last 12 years.

Was it a walk in the park?

Heck no.

Did I screw up here and there?

Hell yeah. 😬

But this entire experience hammered home 3 essential principles that many writers overlook.

Starting with…

1. What gets measured gets accomplished.

If you're doing any kind of email marketing without tracking where your sales are coming from, you're shooting yourself (and your client) in the foot.

Why?

'Cause knowing that one email or SMS campaign brought in 3X more than others tells you which sales angles are gold and which are duds.

With that info, you can recycle those winning arguments to pump up those profits.

For instance…

If an SMS comparing your offer to a daily latte killed it…

Then hit 'em with one comparing it to gas prices.

OR…

If an email about the power of a supportive squad brought in the big bucks…

Spin it into one about accountability buddies or mentors.

That's how you supercharge those profits for your client.

But you gotta be all over that sales data to make killer copy decisions.

2. Don't sleep on SMS marketing.

SMS click-through rates are INSANE.

We're talking 50%+ CTR insane.

It's like having a money printer, no joke.

Hit "Send" and watch orders pour in like it's Black Friday.

Can you rely on SMS alone?

No way, José.

But if you keep your peeps engaged on social, YouTube, and email, then sprinkle some SMS magic on top…

You'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

3. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Last but not least, results like these?

Here's just a quick list of some killer subject lines I've come up with for my clients just reading good ol' Cosmopolitan articles:

Subject Line: 5 romantic moves to 'steal' his heart ❤️

Subject Line: mom gets $26k deal using this marketing hack

Subject Line: she said what about me? 🤯

All of them got a 45-55% open rate.

STOP doing 50% off sales on your courses!

Giving your audience huge discounts only cheapens you in their eyes.

After all, if your course is 50% off today, then how much was it really worth yesterday?

So what do you do instead?

Add a bunch of gifts and bonuses to entice buyers.

That way you're attracting better buyers with more cash, who value you as a coach or course creator.

And it doesn't negatively impact the value of your brand long-term.

One of the biggest mistakes in email marketing?

Focusing on providing value rather than on entertainment.

Sure, providing useful information is great an all...

But can you tell your subscribers interesting stories?

Can you relate to them in a way no one else can?

Can you share your worst moments and be vulnerable without fear of being judged?

Most coaches can't.

But the few who're willing to entertain get the bag.

I've see this time after time.

So dial down the value...

And turn up the entertainment.

"Hey, L! I need to get some booked calls. I have a new closer on the team and I want to get her calendar filled up!"

Me:
"Say no more!"

After sending just one email, we had generated 19 booked calls and got 3 PIF coaching students.

How did I do that?

I used scarcity and connection.

1. Scarcity:

I crafted an offer that's valid only for 3 to 5 people.

This made our audience take action, knowing they won't get such a deal anytime soon.

2. Connection:

I replied (as my client) to everyone who was interested and showed them my deep understanding of their situation.

People get really comfortable giving you money when you can verbalise how they feel better than they can.

That's how we kickstarted the new closer's week with a bang.

Now, will you get similar results if you repeat exactly what I did?

Unlikely.

Why?

Because in order to get such a great response from your list, you need to send great emails to them on the regular.

But when you truly build a connection...

That's when your email list becomes a money printer.
