ASEAN has become the premier destination for Chinese enterprises to invest abroad
Under the FTA, China and ASEAN, as the emerging economy, enhance
the economic and trade cooperation. More and more Chinese enterprises
turn their sights on ASEAN. Hence ASEAN has become the premier
destination for Chinese enterprises to invest abroad, said Mr. Xu Ningning
on the Singapore Investment Promotion Meeting which was themed on
"Hand with Singapore, Explore ASEAN Business Opportunities" on
April 12th.
The invest amount of Chinese enterprises to ASEAN countries increase
rapidly and the invest area also constantly expand. China mainland's
non-financial direct investment to ASEAN reached 2.54 billion USD
in 2011, an increase of 13.1% year-on-year. ASEAN has become the
biggest market for Chinese enterprises to invest abroad.
The formal establishment of China-ASEAN FTA offers a powerful
impetus for the two-way investment and trade between China and
ASEAN. According to statistics, the total investment of China to
ASEAN at present has exceeded 20 billion USD, and the two-way
investment between China and ASEAN totaled over 90 billion USD.
Now, China has built five economic and trade cooperation zones in
ASEAN. China-ASEAN Investment Cooperation Found and China-
ASEAN Bank Federation also was established one after another. These
have been the important platform for the investment cooperation for
both sides. Besides the increase of the bilateral investment, the trade
amount between China and ASEAB hit the record high again, with the
trade volume of 362.33 billion USD in 2011, an increase of 24% yearon-
year.
Mr. Xu Ningning indicated that in order to toward the establishment of
ASEAN economy community in 2015, ASEAN itself now is further
opening the markets to each other, which will promote the industry
cooperation between China and ASEAN. At present, with an aim to
actively promote the bilateral industry cooperation, the governments
of both sides shall lay emphasis on supporting and guiding SMEs to
seek the new development in the industry cooperation, shall let SMEs
to share more advantages brought from the markets which open to
each other. Meanwhile, the enterprises of the two sides shall actively
participate in the industry cooperation, make the good use of the
preferential policy of FTA and expand the investment cooperation to
achieve more trade creation.
