Its crazy how time flies…

1 year anniv since I starting skateboarding…Been making stickers long before then. Everything DMG related is still kept under wraps, because I wasn’t confident about myself and the works I’ve done. If it wasn’t for skateboarding, I won’t have an outlet for the works I’ve been doing.

The desire to put my work out there really pushed me to try something new. I’ve always been inspired by street, hip-hop and skate culture, but always so adamant to try— like i would not belong. But looking back, I’ve always been a fan. I fell in love with the scene before I became a part of it. There and then, I realized that I was always a part of it. There’s already some ground to work on— it just needs to start.

On a whim, I bought a cheap 600 peso board from shopee, and started taking out all of my archived stickers. Went ham on designing the thing, without having any skateboarding skills to show for.

Through time, skateboarding taught me to be patient with myself and the process. It taught me that every second spent on the craft, compounds, and creates connections to make better work in the future— be it in skateboarding, visual design— or even in life.

Trying again and again after falling— and failing— is what it really means for me, and is something I will hold unto for the rest of my life.
