One of my favourite moments from Entangled Islands — the sounds of traditional Irish music meeting the unmistakable rhythm of Bahamian rake ’n’ scrape, brought to life by the incredible Kait Rock, four-time World Champion Irish dancer. 💃🏽🔥

As a Bahamian with Irish heritage, this was a particularly meaningful project for me personally - and exactly the kind of work I love leading through Concepts: using PR, media and storytelling to celebrate culture, create connections and share stories that matter.

Some projects are professional. Some are personal. This one was both. 🇧🇸🇮🇪

As Principal for Concepts Marketing Solutions, it was especially meaningful for me to lead PR and media relations for Entangled Islands - a celebration of the connections between The Bahamas and Ireland through art, history and culture.

As a proud Bahamian with Irish heritage, these are stories I genuinely love helping to tell. And perhaps one of the best parts was watching the cultural exchange come to life with the children - seeing the students learn Irish dancing and discover some of the history connecting our two island nations.

This is the kind of PR work I love most: great stories, meaningful connections and experiences that bring people and cultures together.

And yes… this one was a little extra special for me. ☘️🇧🇸❤️

When the Headline Becomes the Story: Why Every Leader Needs a Crisis Communications Strategy

One of the realities of leadership is that you don’t get to choose the headline.

The media’s job is to report what is newsworthy. Your job is to ensure the public understands your story.

I’ll admit… the headline made me smile. 😄 Don’t get me wrong - I love the beach. Give me sandy toes any day. But for many readers, that’s where the story stops.

Looking at today’s coverage, I couldn’t help but think about the opportunity that exists whenever an organization is undergoing significant challenge or change. This was more than a press conference - it was a chance to educate the public on who Bahamas Grid Company is, what its role is, why it was created, and what this transition means for Bahamians.

When uncertainty exists, communication can’t be reactive. It has to be strategic, intentional, and consistent. That’s how trust is built.

This is where experienced communications counsel makes the difference: media training, message development, stakeholder engagement, crisis communications, and proactive public education.

If Bahamas Grid Company is looking to build public confidence during this transition, I’d welcome the opportunity to help develop a strategic communications and public education campaign - including a national energy conservation initiative that informs, engages, and inspires Bahamians.

Because sometimes the biggest opportunity isn’t managing the headline - it’s shaping the conversation that follows.

As I scrolled through my camera roll tonight, I realized these past few weeks have been a blur.

Site visits. Planning meetings. Merch shoots. Sponsorship calls. Production schedules. Content creation. Hundreds of little decisions that somehow become one experience.

The other day, my second phone accidentally captured me completely in my zone - walking the site, talking to myself (don’t judge 😂), imagining the next detail. I had no idea it was recording. Watching it back, I smiled. That’s just the process.

This Saturday, all of that work comes to life.

A heartfelt thank you to our patrons, sponsors, partners, vendors, entertainers, volunteers, and my incredible team. You’ve helped turn One Blood into so much more than an event. It’s a tradition, a community, and a legacy.

One of the things we love most at 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 is creating experiences that bring people together.

Over 20 years, One Blood has grown from a reggae party into a tradition, a community and a legacy. Watching that evolution has been one of our greatest privileges.
