Bahamas Department of Labour

THE TRUTH ABOUT WORKING AT THE CRICKET CLUB, NASSAU
Cricket Club Pub & Restaurant, The Cricket Club looks like a popular spot in Nassau. But for the staff working inside, it’s a nightmare. It’s time the Department of Labour steps in and investigates the mistreatment happening daily.

Staff are expected to start work as early as 6:00 a.m. and leave after 5:00 p.m, with no pay for the extra hours.
No payslips are ever given, so workers have no record of what they earn.
No lunch breaks, staff must work all day without eating.
The owner, Ms. Connie, is notorious for mistreating workers. Her daughter Dominique (the so-called manager), and her sister Tammy, only make things worse. Tammy constantly curses at staff and even customers. Her attitude is deplorable. She is clearly only there because she’s family. Otherwise, no one would ever hire someone with such anger issues.
Connie, Dominique, and Tammy fight constantly in the middle of the restaurant, in front of both staff and customers. Their arguments often get physical, and staff are forced to break them up.
Waiters are exploited, made to cook food, wash dishes, mop floors, clean bathrooms, windows, and do every job under the sun, even though they were only hired to serve tables.
The building itself is hazardous: the roof leaks, the AC leaks, garbage isn’t disposed of properly, the kitchen is unsanitary, and rats run freely. Bathrooms are outdated and filthy, yet waiters are forced to clean them because Connie refuses to hire cleaners.
Staff are denied overtime pay, sick days, and fair vacation. If you fall ill, miss a day, or face an emergency, you don’t get paid. Workers are pushed to work 7 days a week without rest.
Wages are handed out in cash, often short, and any time workers question discrepancies, they’re threatened with being fired. To make matters worse, credit card tips are not fully given to the servers.
Double standards apply, certain workers are forced to follow strict rules, while others (especially family of the boss) are allowed to do whatever they want.
And if you have a baby or children at home and can’t stay late after your shift, you are treated even nastier, spoken down to and made to feel like you don’t care about your job. There is no compassion for parents trying to balance work and family.

💔 Many of us working here have children to provide for, yet we are treated like slaves in our own country. This is not just bad management , it’s systematic abuse, favoritism, and exploitation.

The staff at The Cricket Club are being overworked, underpaid, disrespected, and forced to work in unsafe conditions, all while the so called “management” fights each other in public.

⚠️ We are crying out for help. Please, someone listen.
The Department of Labour must act. Workers deserve dignity, respect, and fair treatment.

Please share this so the truth can no longer be hidden. 🙏
