Nothing Ear 2 review: it’s what’s on the inside that counts
The second-generation earbuds might look almost identical to the Ear 1s but with a $50 higher asking price. Lucky for Nothing, their sound quality is in a different league.

What a difference two years makes.

Back in 2021, Nothing, the consumer tech startup led by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, had only publicly existed for a few short months before launching the Ear 1 true wireless earbuds. They were feature rich for their $99 price point but, at launch, suffered from plenty of bugs and so-so noise-canceling performance.

Shame about the $50 price hike.

OpenVPN With Radius and Multi-Factor Authentication
This tutorial provides a step-by-step guide to install an OpenVPN server with Radius and multi-factor authentication for additional security.

Setting up a VPN server to allow remote connections can be challenging if you set this up for the first time. In this post, I will guide you through the steps to set up your own VPN Server and connect to it using a VPN Client.

Additionally, I will also show how to set up a free Radius server and a plugin to implement multi-factor authentication for additional security.

Front-End Troubleshooting Using OpenTelemetry
This article will dive into how front-end developers can leverage OpenTelemetry to improve observability and efficiently troubleshoot issues like this one.

As with back-end development, observability is becoming increasingly crucial in front-end development, especially when it comes to troubleshooting. For example, imagine a simple e-commerce application that includes a mobile app, web server, and database. If a user reports that the app is freezing while attempting to make a purchase, it can be challenging to determine the root cause of the problem. That's where OpenTelemetry comes in.

This article will dive into how front-end developers can leverage OpenTelemetry to improve observability and efficiently troubleshoot issues like this one.

How Does SAFe Differ From LeSS?
An overview of two Agile frameworks

During a practice meeting at my organization, a team member mentioned taking a class on LeSS (Large-Scale Scrum). Many questions were asked as to how LeSS differed from SAFe. I volunteered to present a comparison in a later meeting. The larger Agile community might benefit from this information as well. The below article will attempt to answer the following questions:

What are the differences?
Why do companies choose one over the other?
How do the roles differ?
How do the events differ?
How do the certifications?
What percentage of organizations use SAFe vs. LeSS?
Does the organizational structure differ?
What are the pros and cons of implementation?
What is the average cost and time of education?
What is the average time to fully implement?
When was SAFe vs. LeSS published?
Geographically, where is SAFe vs. LeSS being adopted?

Learn the key differences between the SAFe and LeSS Agile frameworks, including how the roles, events, and certifications differ.

Why cars running on e-fuel can’t replace EVs

/ E-fuel will probably be too expensive and inefficient for cars, but it just might work for planes.

Porsche showed off a new pilot plant in Patagonia, Chile, last month — not one that manufactures cars but, rather, one that makes e-fuel, a synthetic alternative to conventional gasoline made from air and water using electricity. The plant, a joint project with ExxonMobil and other energy companies, “is a symbol of hope in the fight against climate change, for a more sustainable future – and one that might also feature the music of a Porsche engine,” Porsche boasts in a February 14th press release.

It’s made from water and air, but that doesn’t make it more sustainable.

Running Databases on Kubernetes
Is it a good idea to run stateful workloads on K8s?

A few weeks ago, Kelsey Hightower wrote a tweet and held a live discussion on Twitter about whether it's a good idea or not to run a database on Kubernetes. This happened to be incredibly timely for me since we at QuestDB are about to launch our own cloud database service (built on top of k8s)!

Is it a good idea to run stateful workloads (like databases) on kubernetes? QuestDB Cloud Engineer Steve Sklar discusses this topic in his latest blog post

ChatGPT Prompts for Agile Practitioners
How to get better results as a Scrum practitioner. I chose to present ChatGPT with three everyday scenarios based on more comprehensive prompts.

TL; DR: ChatGPT Prompts for Scrum Practitioners
Last week, I ran an “interview” with ChatGPT as an applicant for a fictitious Scrum Master position based on questions from Scrum Master Interview Guide. While the overall results were broadly acceptable, I thought that changing the ChatGPT prompts might deliver better results. So, this time, I chose to present ChatGPT with three everyday scenarios based on more comprehensive prompts. Lo and behold, it worked very well.

The company that controls dating

/ Episode two of Land of the Giants: Dating Games looks at how Match Group made dating apps into a multibillion-dollar industry.

If you’re tired of seeing the same profiles in your dating app, you might be tempted to try a different one. After all, there are a lot of them out there: Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid, The League — apps that are all marketed differently and are supposed to provide distinct experiences. But have you ever wondered why using them feels the same?

Why do apps all feel the same? Many are run by just one company.
