Just a ‘calm before the storm’ shot of Canada’s Trystan Hart moments before the Street Rhythm race last Thursday evening at Silver Kings Hard Enduro that I was down covering my Enduro/Off-Road news platform (.bureau.official) Robot didn’t win this Endurocross style event (that went to Colton Haaker), but he DID wipe the floor with everyone in the two races up on the mountain to take the overall and the USD $10K winner’s purse. If you’re not sure who Trystan is, he’s one of the top 3 hard enduro athletes in the world. Riding for FMF KTM Factory Racing, he’s also a Red Bull sponsored rider.
I really dig this shot for a few different reasons, but mostly because it just feels like classic Trystan. You can see the race day intensity in his eyes through the goggles, and in how he is standing a little apart from everyone. He has a released posture, but you can tell he’s fully locked in.
I also really like how this image shows the power of Fujifilm’s colour science. I shot this in RAW on the Fuji XH-2 with the XF 33mm f1.4 lens, then converted to the Provia Standard film simulation with a bit of extra contrast and clarity added in post.
Action shots are awesome, but I often love these BTS shots the most. Just wanted to share a little bit about it.
