Intentional Impact Idea 1
I’ve been reading a book called The Conscious Creative by Kelly Small, and in it, the author shares a bunch of tips on how to be a bit more purposeful.
One of the reasons I was so drawn to it in the first place, is because I believe it’s possible to be ethical, intentional, purposeful, etc. AND run a profitable business.
But I find that conversations in the business spaces often leave me with a weird aftertaste (think green tea that you steeped too long or burnt).
So it got me thinking that I’d like to share some actionable & implementable ideas on how businesses can be a bit more intentionally impactful!
Today I’m starting with an easy one: for every new project, service or product you take on, take the time to reflect.
“Who or what does this project, service or product serve?”
And be honest with yourself. If the answer is no one or nothing, take 5-10min to brainstorm how you can be more of service!
Some ideas to get you started:
💡 donate a portion of the revenue to a cause
💡 offer a resource free to certain underprivileged demographics
💡 audit your entire supply chain (yes, you too, service providers) to increase participation of ethical partners
💡 co-create with someone from your community of service
The first step is often the hardest. I know it took me 2 years to take the time and reflect on how I was setting up my business and… I have a lot of work to do to create the impact I dream of having.
Just know it’s possible, and it’s all about the journey - 1 step at a time.
Save this tip for when you’re ready to do an impact audit of your business!
