Meet CDS® Kerry Boccella!

Kerry is an Associate Broker in Pennsylvania and a licensed salesperson in New Jersey, with more than a decade of experience guiding buyers and sellers through the Greater Philadelphia market with Compass, based out of the Chestnut Hill office in Northwest Philadelphia. She is part of a team ranked 6th among Pennsylvania's medium-sized teams by RealTrends. As a Certified Divorce Specialist® (CDS®), she pairs that real estate expertise with something many agents can't offer: having gone through a divorce herself, Kerry understands firsthand what's at stake when a home sale is part of a larger, harder transition — and she brings both professional rigor and genuine empathy to every step.

Kerry's background in art and design, combined with years of hands-on renovation experience, gives her a practical eye for preparing a home to sell and helping clients see the potential in a new space — whether that's staging a marital home for market or helping someone reimagine a fresh start on their own. She works to make a difficult process feel manageable: clear communication, straightforward advice, and steady support from the first conversation through closing.

Kerry has called Springfield Township in Montgomery County home for over 20 years, where she's an active volunteer and runs community events — giving her genuine, on-the-ground knowledge of the neighborhoods, schools, and communities she serves. For clients navigating divorce, she offers something rare — a real estate advisor who has actually been through it, and who is committed to helping them move forward with clarity and confidence.

Meet CDS® Kailey Brown!

As a real estate agent in Alberta, Kailey chose to complete her Certified Divorce Specialist (CDS®) training because she wanted to better support clients navigating one of the most difficult transitions in their lives.

Having gone through divorce herself, Kailey remembers how overwhelming the process felt. She didn’t know where to start, who to contact, what questions to ask, or what the next steps were. When a home and other major financial decisions are involved, that uncertainty can make an already emotional situation even more challenging.

Because real estate is often a significant part of separation and divorce, Kailey wanted to gain a better understanding of the process so she could serve her clients with greater knowledge, compassion, and professionalism. Completing the CDS® training has given her additional tools to understand the unique challenges separating and divorcing clients may face and to help them navigate the real estate side of their transition with greater clarity.

Her role is not to provide legal or financial advice, but to be a knowledgeable real estate resource, collaborate with the appropriate professionals, and help her clients better understand their options when it comes to their home.

For Kailey, earning her CDS® designation was about becoming a better REALTOR® and providing the kind of guidance and support she wishes she had known was available when she went through the process herself.

A client may come to you for help with separation or divorce.

But what if their immigration status is also part of the problem and no one has recognized it yet?

When family law and immigration law intersect, professionals may also need to consider potential legal and financial implications, cross-border issues, and when an early referral or collaboration could be important.

That is what we are exploring at September’s CDS® Canada Connect:

Love, Separation, and Status: When Family Law and Immigration Law Collide

Join Adrienne Smith, founder and principal lawyer of Smith Immigration Law, for a practical discussion on:

• How immigration can impact clients navigating family breakdown
• Common misconceptions professionals should be aware of
• Potential legal and financial implications
• Cross-border considerations
• The importance of early collaboration and referrals

📅 Thursday, September 17
🕛 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM EST
Presentation: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Networking: 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM

CDS® designees can earn 1 hour of CDS CE credit.

If you work with clients going through separation or divorce, this is an intersection worth understanding before it shows up in one of your cases.

A divorce professional may be focused on the separation in front of them, while another issue is quietly developing in the background: immigration status.

And that is exactly why professionals need to understand when these 2 areas may intersect.

A client's immigration circumstances can introduce questions that extend beyond the immediate family law matter, including potential legal and financial implications, cross-border considerations, and the need to involve additional expertise.

The goal is not for every professional to become an immigration expert.

It is to recognize when immigration may be relevant, avoid relying on assumptions, and know when early collaboration or a referral is needed.

Meet CDS® Robert J. Yencha!

Robert J. Yencha, CDS®, CSP®, MRP®, ABR®, SFR®, is a New Jersey real estate professional with Weichert Realtors in Chester, serving clients throughout Warren, Hunterdon, Morris, and Lower Sussex counties. He specializes in helping clients navigate complex real estate transitions, bringing leadership, negotiation skills, emotional intelligence, and disciplined problem-solving to every client relationship.

Before entering real estate, Robert served more than 32 years in the U.S. Army and New Jersey Army National Guard, retiring as a Colonel. His senior leadership positions included Commander, State Inspector General, and Director of Human Resources. These roles required decisive leadership, confidentiality, impartiality, conflict resolution, and the ability to guide people through difficult and highly emotional situations.

As a Certified Divorce Specialist (CDS®), Robert applies this experience to the unique challenges of divorce-related real estate. He assists homeowners who need to sell the marital home, evaluate housing options, or transition into a new residence while providing objective, unbiased real estate guidance. When appropriate, he works cooperatively with both parties, attorneys, and other professional advisors.

Robert understands that real estate during divorce is more than a transaction - it can be a significant financial and personal turning point. His approach emphasizes neutrality, discretion, clear communication, and respect while keeping decisions focused on facts, market conditions, and shared objectives.

Drawing on decades of leadership and conflict-resolution experience, Robert remains calm and solutions-oriented during challenging circumstances. His goal is to help clients understand their options, make informed decisions, reduce unnecessary conflict, and confidently move forward into the next chapter of their lives.

A separation can change a client's finances, home, parenting arrangements, and future plans.

But for some clients, it can also raise another question that the professionals around them may not immediately think to ask:

What happens to their immigration status?

When family law and immigration law intersect, decisions made during separation can carry consequences well beyond the immediate family matter. Sponsorship, immigration status, financial obligations, cross-border circumstances, and even the timing of professional advice can become part of a much more complicated picture.

That intersection is the focus of our September CDS® Canada Connect:

Love, Separation, and Status: When Family Law and Immigration Law Collide

📅 Thursday, September 17
🕛 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM EST

Join the conversation and register: https://cdscanadaconnectsept2026.eventbrite.com

Our guest speaker, Adrienne Smith, immigration lawyer and founder of Smith Immigration Law, will help professionals better recognize when immigration issues may be affecting a client’s divorce and when early collaboration or referral matters.

The presentation runs from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by networking until 1:30 PM.

CDS® designees earn 1 hour of CDS CE credit.

If you work with divorcing clients, this is an intersection you may not encounter often, but one you should know how to recognize.
