Ever heard, "Email marketing is dead"?
Usually right before they send another boring newsletter nobody asked for.

The truth is, email marketing isn't dead. Bad email marketing is.

The businesses getting the best results today aren't shouting louder. They're sounding more human.

They tell stories. They teach you something useful. They show up consistently.
And they remember there's an actual person reading the email on the other end.

Yes, AI can help write emails faster... but AI doesn't replace strategy. It doesn't understand your customer. It doesn't know your voice.

That's where Emotional Intelligence still wins.

I dive into it more in my latest blog, including why email is still one of the most valuable marketing tools your business owns.

Spoiler alert: Instagram can change its algorithm tomorrow.
Your email list is still yours.

AI is about to flood the internet with content.
And honestly, a lot of it is going to sound & look exactly the same.

Pretty decent websites. Coherent captions. Passable emails. Good enough blogs.

That’s the danger right now.

Not bad marketing... Average marketing.
I know you don't wanna be average.

Prompting AI is not the same thing as understanding your audience.
And content alone is not connection.

The businesses that win over the next few years won’t necessarily be the loudest or posting the most.
They’ll be the ones with:
• clear positioning
• recognizable personality
• real strategy
• messaging that sounds human

That’s the difference between using AI as a shortcut and using it as a tool.
One creates noise, the other creates momentum.

And if your entire brand voice can be replaced by one ChatGPT prompt… we may need to have a difficult conversation ;)

Everyone’s talking about AI right now like it’s either the apocalypse or the second coming of marketing.

Truth is, it’s neither.

AI is incredible. I use it every day. Any marketer pretending they don’t is either lying or about to become Blockbuster.

But here’s the part people are missing… Artificial Intelligence still requires Emotional Intelligence to amplify it.

AI can write words.
It still takes people to understand people.
It doesn’t hear the hesitation in your voice when you talk about the customers you’re sick of attracting.
It doesn’t understand the subtle emotional reasons people trust your business over someone else.

It doesn’t build strategy... It accelerates strategy!

That’s the real shift happening right now. The businesses winning with AI are not replacing marketers. They’re combining AI with real positioning, messaging, psychology and human understanding.

Honestly, the internet is about to become aggressively medium (read: Blah). Everyone will suddenly have “pretty decent” content.
But the businesses that stand out, will still be the ones with the clearest voice and deepest understanding of their audience.

That’s where Greenlight lives.

AI meets EI.

The most valuable skill in marketing is translation.

Experts speak in expertise… Customers speak in problems.

When those two languages don’t match, businesses struggle to connect.

Great marketing sits somewhere in the middle. It translates deep knowledge into simple, clear language… Not dumbed down, just understandable.

The companies that win in crowded markets usually aren’t the loudest.
They’re the easiest to understand.

You Talk, I Translate.

“We’ve been trying to market this business for three years and nothing really clicks.”

Sadly I’ve heard that, or a version of it, from too many hard working business owners.

So when we start working together, I don’t ask them about their ads, or their social media…
I ask them about their customers.

Who do they actually want to help?
What problems are they trying to solve for them?
Why is their approach different from the other guys?

Within an hour, the story of their business changes.

Same company. Same services. But suddenly the message makes more sense.

That’s the moment marketing becomes easier.

F**k the FMF… and Finally Find Clarity.

Businesses like to think their problem is marketing.

So they try changing up their website, doing a new radio campaign, following a social media trend…

But the issue is almost always upstream.
You have an unclear audience, unclear positioning and unclear messaging.

Marketing strategies will amplify whatever foundation you gave them… so it the foundation is strong, your growth will accelerate.

If it’s fuzzy as sh*t, the noise will just get louder.

The most valuable work you can do, actually happens before your marketing even starts.

Let’s talk about it: https://greenlightcreativemarketing.com

Your logo is not your brand.

Your brand is what people understand about you when you’re not in the room.

It’s the story someone tells when they recommend you.
If that story is clear and memorable, your brand is working.

If it’s vague, forgettable, or hard to explain… it’s not.

Design matters.
But design can’t fix a confusing message.

The businesses that stand out the most usually have one thing in common.
You immediately understand who they’re for.

That’s not design. That’s clarity.

Business owners: Try this exercise.
Explain what your business does in one sentence.

Not three. Not a paragraph. One sentence.

If it takes more than that, there’s probably an opportunity to simplify your message.

Drop your one sentence below, if you’re brave enough.
I’ll pick a few and help tighten them up.

Always interesting to see how different industries approach this.
