The stars aligned for this one while I was on location shooting stills and video to give the RM of Sarnia and the villages of Holdfast and Chamberlain an online facelift.

I spent all day flying my drone through this stunning landscape, nestled on the western shores of Last Mountain Lake, with the meandering Arm River creating beautiful valleys that were the original highways of this land. Only one person threatened to shoot the drone out of the sky! ;) Admittedly, I've driven the Louis Riel Trail hundreds of times and never pulled off to explore this area of the province. I definitely won’t pass up the opportunity again next time I’m in the area.

We've been managing these communities as their remote-hybrid CAO for almost a year now and building them a new website with advanced features to support economic development and marketing initiatives. The rural municipal capacity shortage has met its match, and we’re on a mission to elevate one prairie town at a time.

How many of y’all have also passed by hundreds of times without turning off?

Getting to film Terry Lerat at Cowesses was a special shoot. Cowesses is a stone's throw from where my European ancestors first homesteaded, on a farm I grew up visiting my grandparents with cousins, aunties and uncles a few times a year. Terry and his father knew my grandparents well, and we told stories about our relatives all day in between the camera rolling.

Can't wait for everyone to see this Listening sessions soon!
