depth is more subjective (within acceptable limits!!!). some goalkeepers prefer to play higher to reduce the angle, while others prefer to play slightly deeper to give themselves more reaction time (I personally prefer this one).

however, your alignment to the ball doesn’t allow that same freedom and has to be correct every time🙌

Even if you don’t hold it, proper catching mechanics usually put your hands in a position to cushion or direct the ball into an acceptable area (away from the goal)

Obviously in a game setting with attackers rushing in, parrying into good areas is important - but when you think a ball is catchable (especially at training), go for the catch
