- Handle escalations + provide high-level client service

When I started freelancing back in 2012, I honestly had no clue what I was doing 😅
I was a young mom just trying to earn something from home.. no fancy setup, no laptop of my own..
I still remember walking to my sister’s computer shop, borrowing a computer just so I could do my first online interview. The rest? Well… that’s a long story 😅

But here’s what I’ve learned the hard way:
You don’t have to know everything right away.
You don’t even need to have it all figured out before you start.

Just begin with one skill, learn it well, and grow from there. 🌱 You’ll never feel fully ready.., but you’ll figure it out along the way.

If I could go back, I’d hug myself and say,
💖 “It’s okay to start small. What matters is… YOU started.”

You don’t have to have it all first. Start with the foundation… promise.. when you build confidence, the right opportunities will follow.

Let’s be real: freelancing isn’t for the faint of heart. You’ll get ghosted, underpaid offers, and endless rejections. 😅 But here’s the thing… freelancing gave me something my full-time job never could: freedom. Freedom to work on my own terms, provide extra for my kids, and grow skills I never thought I’d have.

If you’re just starting, don’t expect overnight success. Expect challenges, but also expect growth. Your first “yes” from a client will remind you that all the sleepless nights and countless applications are worth it.

Wondering why clients aren’t replying? Most of the time, it’s not your skills, it’s how your profile looks.

Fix these 3 things today:
1. Profile Photo – Use a clear headshot, smile, and keep the background simple.
2. Title & Overview – Be specific. Instead of “Virtual Assistant,” try “VA specializing in social media + admin support.”
3. Portfolio/Work Samples – Even self-made samples count. Clients want proof of what you can do.

Ever doubted yourself when you started freelancing? Like… “What if I don’t get clients? What if I’m not good enough?”

Sis, we’ve all been there. The truth? No one feels 100% ready in the beginning. But the difference between those who succeed and those who quit is consistency.

Every proposal you send is a seed. Every rejection is a redirection. Freelancing isn’t an overnight jackpot, it’s a daily choice to show up.
