For our eighth Built by Her feature, we’re honoured to introduce Jessica Murphy, owner of The Barkery Grooming & Dog Shoppe.

After years of working in busy grooming salons, Jessica knew she wanted to create a different kind of experience. One where dogs could be cared for one on one, in a calmer environment designed around their comfort, happiness and wellbeing.

What started as a vision for a more peaceful grooming experience has grown into a space where every pup gets the time, patience and care they deserve.

Some people just have an eye for finding beauty in the unexpected.

For our seventh Built by Her feature, we’re so excited to introduce Liana Bagyan Parr, owner of The Joyful Closet.

Liana’s love for vintage and having a style all her own has been part of her story for years. After co owning a consignment store and spending her career as an EA, retirement opened the door to a new chapter and the opportunity to turn that passion into something of her own.

After starting The Joyful Closet in Camden East, Liana brought the business to Napanee this year, carefully curating each piece and heading out every Monday to find the next treasures for the shop.

But for Liana, it’s about more than vintage. It’s about people, connection, and the communities she loves. With lifelong roots in Newburgh and her family’s connection to Hollow Square Market, community has always been close to her heart.

I haven’t seen these two in almost 20 years, back when they were in school with my older brother and I was just a little kid.

Getting to reconnect all these years later and capture them with their own beautiful family was such a cool full circle moment!
