Hot rods, $2 pizza and a chance to cheer on the Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast riders! đŸšČ

After another successful Super Dave Rod Run, the local hot rod crew is stepping up again to support a great cause this Sunday, September 13.

The hot rods will gather on Manson Avenue at the church starting around 1 pm, with pizza available for $2 a slice. All pizza proceeds go to Cops for Cancer.

The cyclists are expected around 3:30 pm, when the hot rods will es**rt them through Cranberry and Townsite, along Marine Avenue and back down Joyce Avenue.

Come check out the cars, grab a slice and give these riders a proper Powell River welcome. Big thanks to the volunteers and hot rod community for showing up for charity. ❀

Got a great video submission from a local contributor of our fuzzy friend dealing with Powell River traffic. Good reminder to keep your garbage and compost secured and always keep a safe distance when observing. If you have a video you think we should see DM us today and we will get it out there! Ok ok ok. We are always talking about “the next big thing” but this was something special. We saw our favourite band Fake Shark at the Hollywood Theatre and were treated to a heart stopping performance by runner and their frontperson Kira Cuthbertson. She rose the room to buzz and set it off with her vocals and performance. The rest of the band was as electric and in a groove with her and the crowd. Check them out, get them on Spotify. Time to get your last Shin’s Convenience Slushie fixes in before fall takes over!

September is your last chance to grab one of Shin’s Convenience’s three slushie flavours before they disappear for the winter, and yes, that includes this glorious Matcha Slushie (Erika’s fave ;)).

While you’re there, check out Shin’s grab-and-go selection of great eats, including fresh subs and sushi, that make an easy lunch snack or dinner on the run.
