When I’m working with clients, I’m not creating a differentiator out of thin air.

I’m digging into their story….asking questions, sifting through the details, pulling on the threads that matter—because the thing that sets them apart is usually already there.

It’s in how they think.

In what they believe about design.

In the choices they’ve made over the years.

WHAT WE ASSUME: “They want a cohesive, well-designed space”
ACTUAL CLIENT QUOTE: “I wanted this moment when you came around the corner and you’re like ‘Ah!’ (gasp) like it all went together and it was beautiful. I wanted that ‘aha’ moment.”

WHAT WE ASSUME: “They need help coordinating trades and managing projects”
ACTUAL CLIENT QUOTE: “I struggled figuring out the right trade partners to use... we knew we wanted somebody like who has all those deep relationships and knows how to get the thing done right.”

Turned 44 yesterday. And it made me feel all kinds of feels.

The day before my birthday, my youngest daughter had a playdate with a friend. His mom dropped him off at our house and the mom and I chatted for a few minutes in the hallway.

After learning I have three kids of all different ages - 9, 11 and 17 - and that I’m turning 44 tomorrow, she exclaimed “But you look so good for your age!!”

Cue smile😆

I know she meant it in a good way. But I was pretty happy that I have a healthy mindset—and despite overanalyzing things from time to time🫣—it doesn’t let me spiral out of control.

I’m at a place where my age is just an arbitrary number. What counts is how I feel on the inside. How I see myself. How I treat myself. My emotional wellbeing. My physical wellbeing. The growth I’m experiencing year after year, both personally and professionally.

These are important things.

The age is kind of irrelevant. At least, that’s how I choose to think of it, despite what we’ve been conditioned to believe about our age.

How personal do we need to get on social? Don’t know about you but I’m constantly struggling with this one.

🤔Things about my family?
🤔Challenges I’m facing?
🤔Daily struggles?

Truth is..my best performing posts have always been moments of vulnerability, where I’d share something super personal—the entire time agonizing whether I should be sharing it in the first place😬
Almost deleting🫣or editing after I hit publish.

Also what’s “best performing” anyway? My “best performing” is not so much about the likes or massive engagement. It’s mission impossible these days, anyway🙄

To me, it’s when I get a reply from 1 or 2 people who resonated with the what I shared. When someone messages me sharing something about themselves in return.

I live for these!!❤️

But it doesn’t mean I have to bare my soul in every post.

I find it’s a balance of 3 things - ✨businessy shares, ✨personal shares and ✨video shares.

The trick is to have enough businessy ones to show your expertise, enough personal ones to establish a connection with your audience, and showing your face AND VOICE helps people feel like they already know you.

So in 2025..I’m doing more of that ⬆️
