Hello friends, and happy Ramadan!
Thought we'd bring you up to date on the Al Ahmads:
Omar is learning English with the help of two volunteer teachers (one of whom is ESL certified). He hopes to beef it up enough to apply for electrician's license.
In the meantime, Omar is looking for an inexpensive car so he could start driving for Uber and support his family financially.
Omar's wife and daughter, Rajaa and Hassneh, are both in ESL school and are enjoying it. Hassneh is anxious to get a part time job. She's been dropping off her resumes at local businesses. Hassneh's little boy, Hussein, has started subsidized daycare – which has freed up Hassneh's time.
Omar's and Rajaa's teenage son, Ahmed, is looking for a summer job as a mover. He's made a lot of friends at school (lots of girls, says Hassneh and rolls her eyes).
Ismail, Hassneh's husband, works out like a fiend and helps his uncle Amar (our anchor family member) in the wood finishing shop.
Omar's brother Ibrahim is looking for a job in commercial painting. If you know anyone who needs a professional painter with 40 years of experience, please let us know.
Ibrahim's son Ahmed is working in a furniture warehouse while he looks for a course in coding. Though he has a chemist's degree, he wants to be a programmer. Any suggestions on where he can apply?
That's it for now. Cheers.
