My name is Kaila, I am the founder and CEO of The Missing Piece Agency - a digital marketing boutique agency with a soft spot for BOLD lifestyle, fashion and beauty brands.

With over 15 years of experience in the marketing field (amongst other things), I decided to branch out and start my entrepreneurial journey almost 3 years ago.

My purpose here at TMP Agency is to be a destination for passionate, bold small business owners looking to scale with well-rounded strategies, relationship-building content and next-level brand storytelling.

I'm about to go against the grain of some Instagram advice that you've likely heard many times.
⚡️Specifically, if you are a beauty, fashion or lifestyle brand.⚡️

If you have heard that your Instagram grid layout isn't important, I'm about to bring you a news flash. ➡️ YEARS of experience working with these brands has proven that this advice is not only WRONG, in most instances, but potentially devastating to your brand image and business sales.
💡 It shouldn't be news to anyone that your brand's design is an integral part of your marketing strategy, and it doesn't 🪄MAGICALLY🪄 stop being important on your social pages.

Yes, your customer may indeed find you from an ad, or one random post that the algorithm has chosen to show them but studies show that an interested buyer will likely visit your grid to learn more.
🚨 For some businesses, this can be a big problem if your page feels muddled, and doesn't speak to your customers.
In every other instance, you likely RELY on your aesthetic branding as a part of your customer experience, and you must treat your grid like your social pamphlet. The design, the information provided and the overall messaging are elements that build trust and need to be presented with your 🪩 visual identity 🪩 in mind.

You need to have:
1️⃣ A bold and recognizable style
2️⃣ The comfort of consistency
3️⃣ Customer-focused messaging
4️⃣ Brand values that align with your audience
5️⃣ A built-in marketing funnel

Have you heard of blanding? 🥱

👉 If branding is about differentiation and making an impact than blanding is the exact opposite.
It’s the trend of brands moving towards the same look. You’ve seen it, but you may not have noticed (which is the problem).
❌Sans serif fonts
❌Minimal colour palettes
❌Clean lines
❌Flat identities

And an oversimplification that is putting audiences to sleep 😴

I know what you're thinking, "Kaila, some of these points WERE facts? Until recently, reels HAD a ton of reach, social media WAS the number 1 way to grow a small business, my carousels USED to get thousands of views and I never ran an ad or had a strategy". 🤔

Yes, yes, yes, you are 100% right, but social platforms are constantly evolving, just like everything else in our digital age, and what once was true for everyone, is now obsolete for most. 🤷♀️

Up-and-coming tech companies can especially feel the sting of their failure, they start with bright business prospects, fantastic solutions for customers and brilliant concepts. But so many of them never get to realize the success of "what could have been". 👀

📢 So let's talk about three mistakes we see tech companies making ALL THE TIME :

1️⃣ THINKING THEIR UVP IS OBVIOUS - If you haven't spent time identifying a specific problem for a target group, explaining (in layman's terms) how your product or service solves that problem, and communicating the physical and emotional benefits... well it's time to start... Customers are looking for clear offers built around a functional solution, and centered around a core emotional benefit.
2️⃣ LITTLE ATTENTION ON BRAND PERSONALITY - Your BP creates a direct emotional association in the mind of your customers. As Maya Angelou once said, "..People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
3️⃣ FOGGY STRATEGY - Knowing how and where to spread your brand’s content is vital to survival. In our digital age, perfecting a cohesive, well-rounded strategy will help you reach an audience of prospective consumers and maintain loyalty with previous ones.
