THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT. 🎬🏆🔥

Our feature film CONTAMINATION has been nominated at the 2026 International Motor Film Awards in Los Angeles, and for Brimstone Pictures, this is a significant step forward.

We’ve been fortunate enough to be part of this event before with our short film BONEYARD RACERS, but this year it’s our FEATURE FILM going to Los Angeles.

The International Motor Film Awards are the Oscars of the motoring world, recognizing some of the very best automotive film and television work from around the globe. This year’s black-tie awards gala is being held at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, right in the middle of the American Film Market.

When you start looking at the calibre of work being recognized, the importance of this nomination becomes pretty clear.

CONTAMINATION is now in the same awards conversation as productions such as TRON: Ares, The Running Man, Sisu: Road to Revenge, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War and many more.

The awards have also recognized major films like BABY DRIVER and SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO in previous years, and their judges and ambassadors include Oscar, Emmy and BAFTA-winning professionals whose careers span films and franchises like James Bond, Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Mission: Impossible, along with productions connected to filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Robert Zemeckis, Clint Eastwood and Christopher Nolan.

That is some pretty serious company, and our independent movie from Edmonton, Alberta has earned a place in that room too.

This isn’t a participation trophy. CONTAMINATION earned its place in a room filled with world-class work.

When we made CONTAMINATION, we knew we were trying to do something ambitious. We wanted to make an independent film that looked and played much bigger than its budget, and we pushed hard on the action, cinematography, sound, storytelling, production value, car work and stunts.

We’ve always believed you don’t need a Hollywood-sized budget to have Hollywood-sized ambition, and having that work recognized at this level is real validation of what this team accomplished.

We also think this is bigger than just Brimstone Pictures. There are a lot of talented filmmakers doing great work in Edmonton, and while we may not have the budgets, infrastructure or industry machine of Los Angeles, Toronto or Vancouver, moments like this prove that films made here can absolutely compete internationally.

We don’t have to be somewhere else to make work that matters. An Edmonton-made independent feature can sit beside major international productions and be recognized alongside some of the best filmmaking talent in the world. We think that’s pretty damn exciting — not just for us, but for the film community here.

And then there’s the car side of all of this. The event has connections to brands such as Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Bentley and many others. Anyone who knows us knows we’re huge car and horsepower fans, so being part of an event that brings together filmmaking and automotive culture makes this even more special.

Would we love to win? Of course. But truthfully, getting CONTAMINATION into this awards ceremony is already a massive win. Our independent Alberta feature is going to Los Angeles and rubbing shoulders with some of the very best in the world.

We didn’t make CONTAMINATION with Hollywood resources. We made it with Edmonton talent, ambition, ingenuity and a belief that the work could travel.

Now it has!

Our team will be in Los Angeles this November for the black-tie awards gala, red carpet, networking reception and after-party, and we honestly can’t wait to walk into that room and take it all in.

This is another door opening for CONTAMINATION, another step forward for Brimstone Pictures, and hopefully another reminder of just how much filmmaking talent exists right here in Edmonton.
