A little trivia for you:
Did you know our badge for the 2022 Scottish Masters Athletics International Masters World Championships is based on the colours of the City of Moncton / Ville de Moncton tartan?
🤎 brown for our 'Chocolate River,' the mighty Petitcodiac with its surfable Tidal Bore
❤️ red for our Scottish roots
💚 green for our Irish roots
💙 blue for our Welsh roots
💛 gold for all the cultures and communities who bind us together
Badge designer, Carole Goguen, shares her inspiration:
"The brown in the tartan symbolizes the muddy tidal water of the Petitcodiac River. Since the event is being held next to the River, I felt it was a perfect design element. The tidal bore is iconic to Moncton, so I included the 'wave' on the river. After adding the hammer throw icon from the Masters logo, I felt the Moncton skyline was the perfect backdrop. The green in the grass, blue in the skyline, and gold in the sky are all part of our tartan colours. The only tartan colour that was missing then was red. Of course, my mind went straight to the lobster! So I added the lobster claws since nearby Shediac is known as the 'Lobster Capitol of the World'."
Feats of strength 💪 Feasts of lobster 🦞
