Busy week and ran out of time on Thursday so my son helped out with making dinner, ramen coated chicken on the bbq was an intresting concept but turned out not bad 😊

My son has been on a plain Greek yogurt kick lately which is great because it’s not an ingredient I always have on hand but I love to cook with. It was a great marinade with fresh herbs and garlic and lemon on the sale chicken thighs for the herby chicken bowls. The beef rolls were a favourite with the guys, not as much for me, deceptively filling though! And the homemade ranch in the bagels is just the best- again happy to have plain Greek yogurt a high demand item in the Simple Frugal Basic house!

Deals will be good until Wednesday May 13th. Montreal chicken seasoning is also on a points deal at Superstore. One of my favourite things to BBQ in the summer is the boneless skinless chicken thighs marinated in the Kraft BBQ sauce that’s on sale with the Montreal Chicken Seasoning.

1. No Frills Deals: Since I have PC Express pick up fees included in my PC Mastercard, it’s easy for me to place grocery orders at No Frills and Superstore on the same day for either pick up or delivery. The cheese and bacon are stock up prices- the lowest I’ve seen this cheese which I buy weekly in ages. Buy a few of these bacons and throw them as-is in the freezer. Peppers are on sale at Freshco this week too, but this was the better deal. The eggs are a good deal at Freshco as well ($0.26 each) but we haven’t been buying them from the store lately because there’s a guy at my husband’s work who has chickens and an over abundance of eggs, we have young men with an over abundance of appetite for protein so it’s a symbiotic relationship extraordinaire!

2. More cucumber! It’s been on sale for weeks and I made a recent post with some suggestions with what to do when it goes on sale. This week I plan to make my Vietnamese style subs. The recipe is in my website with a video reel as well. The chicken breasts you saw in the first slide were $22, but that sale seems to have expired overnight. The 4 pack is on sale at Freshco under $10. I don’t love chicken drums but I don’t mind them bbqd occasionally and posted a recipe this week that looks amazing so I might try that.

2 honourable mentions are Kraft bbq sauce at Walmart for $0.98 (my Superstore already had it pricematched but were out of stock) and the broom on sale with points at Superstore.

This week’s front page dinner post will include the grapes, steaks and potatoes. You can look through my recipe reel highlight or in my website for the grape salad recipe I’ll be using.

Well, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been as active here as you’re used to! If we’re meeting for the first time, Hi đŸ‘‹đŸŒ I’m Jesi, and I teach simple household management, focusing on saving money on essentials and time for what really matters.

So, where have I been? Embracing a new phase of family life. My oldest turned 18 in November, and as we transition to having adult children, I decided to let life flow, adjust to our new normal, and ease expectations. Since starting Simple Frugal Basic, sharing family life has been central to my content. If you’ve been here a while, you’ve watched my family and business grow—it’s been surreal to share this journey with you!

Over the summer, I realized it was time to examine how this new chapter affects both our family and Simple Frugal Basic. A recent family meeting helped redefine everyone’s roles in both life and my business. Now that the dust has settled, I feel ready to steer this ship forward. Thank you for your grace and support as I took the time to figure things out.

The milestones we’ve reached—almost 25k here, 40k on TikTok, and TV/Radio/Newspaper features—are beyond anything I could’ve imagined. Thank you for valuing a simple, inexpensive lifestyle that allows time for what matters. And to my brand partners, thank you for letting me authentically share what I truly value.

Starting in January, expect weekly deals, frugal meals, giveaways, and tips on saving money, especially here in Western Canada. Thank you for being part of our Simple Frugal Basic adventure!

This is the game I play every week- and gotta say I don’t mind losing 😂

Over years of shopping the flyers I could never have guessed that the day would come where it would actually be just as cost effective to have my shopping done for me! There are a few occasions where I still need to actually price match but more and more I’m finding that the work is done for me- as long as I go through all my local flyers (thank you app) and know what’s a good deal for us (thank you experience), it’s easy to place an order and pick it up or even have it delivered. And I love that I still get a regular receipt so I can upload it to Eclipsa, Checkout 51, Caddle, Airmiles receipts, Swagbucks, Amazon shopper panel and Receipt Jar.

This is my 4th time spring cleaning this home and the 4th time sharing it with you! When we built our place we built it with the knowledge of 2 previous builds, over 15 years of marriage and with 12+ years of parenthood under our belts. We knew how our family functions and our habits and preferences and designed our bungalow accordingly. Almost 4 years in and we are as happy with it as the day we moved in!
Elevated mud room in the insulated garage to keep as much dirt out of the house as possible that also has extra storage for stock piling? ✅
Mess room separate from the kitchen for the boys to cook and keep open food storage separate from my closed food storage? ✅
Low maintenance flooring that hides stuff well? ✅

It was absolutely a privilege to build an essentially custom house at regular builder prices with . We gave them our budget and needs/wants and they worked with us every step of the way to bring it to life. Then when I became a full time content creator I worked with them to develop a partnership and pass the perks on to you! Everyone who builds with them with my referral gets almost $4k towards their build. The first referral build I did is complete this month and the new family moves in in a few weeks! I didn’t intend for this to turn into a series but the deals have been good at Freshco the past few weeks- and there are some good enough that I can’t price match due to them being a member offer that are justifying the extra stop.

For example- the roast deal is great but I’m also getting Scene points which make it hard not to want to snag!

The rebates pictures are on the Checkout 51 and Eclipsa apps.
