We did some homework on the Canadian communications market. Turns out it's worth about $3.9 billion — bigger than craft beer, just behind video games.

But the real story is what's happening inside the market.

Some segments are crowded and shrinking (Writing). Others are small, specialized, and in serious demand (Strategic Comms and GR).

TL/DR: AI is raising the floor, but the ceiling for creative, human-led strategy remains limitless.

The question is: Which side of that shift are you on?

Lloyd Rang wrote it up. To our colleagues in Comms: it’s worth a read.

Imagine your entire inbox just... wiped. Gone. One unsanctioned AI tool and suddenly it's everyone's problem. Liban Abokor breaks down why that's a governance issue, not a tech one–and what leaders need to think about as they weigh the real productivity gains of AI against the very real risks.

Missed last week? It's now a podcast, so you can catch up whenever and wherever works for you.

Big thanks again to our guest host Steve Paikin and to panelists Liban Abokor, Angela Adam, and Jordan Ray for such a rich and timely conversation.

71% of newcomers want to play hockey. Only 1% ever get the chance.

Hockey4Youth is changing that–and we're proud to help.

H4Y has brought free hockey and life skills to 2,000 kids representing 44 countries across 10 Canadian cities since 2015. They're building the future of the game we love, one new Canadian at a time.

We're proud to name them our 2026 recipient. And for the first time in UPLIFT history, we're adding a customized fundraising merchandise strategy to help them grow.

💬 "We are at an intersectional moment in our history where people are falling in love with what we do, but we need to reach our full potential." — Moezine Hasham, Founder & Executive Director, Hockey 4 Youth Foundation

Don’t let the Silicon Valley gossip fool you; AI is here to stay. So, now what?

Steve Paikin is back with Curious Public as our special guest host for our 13th Comms In Question episode!

Steve will lead our expert panel through a timely conversation about how the data economy is reshaping how we work, communicate and make strategic decisions.
We’re separating facts from feelings and pushing past the bubble-bursting headlines.

You’ll hear from tech, strategy and communications experts about:
◾What’s actually changing inside teams when it comes to productivity and decision-making
◾How audience expectations and behaviours are shifting in an AI-enabled world
◾Where leaders need to think differently about ethics, responsibility and the environmental impact of cloud computing
◾What senior leaders should be planning for now—not later

🛹🔥 Applications for round 4 of our James Bullbrook Memorial Scholarship are now open!

We're offering a $500 USD scholarship to Woodward Skateboarding Camp this summer.

The scholarship honours the memory of James Bullbrook, a beloved colleague, friend, and father, by supporting skateboarding families who travel together to help a young skater pursue their passion—just like James did each summer with his son, Richie.

💬“We’ve met three incredible families so far thanks to James’s memory and I see what he saw thanks to meeting Zoe, Blake, and Charlotte: the skateboarding community is one of the most accepting, supportive, creative, and determined groups out there,” said Lloyd Rang, President and Narrative Lead for Curious Public.

🗓️If you’re a passionate, Canadian skateboarder between ages 7-17, apply before April 30, 2026.

Don’t just take our word for it that Curious Public’s pro-bono program UPLIFT can truly help your organization meet its goals…here’s what one of our past recipients had to say:
