3D printed, I bet not. Two different pieces of Baltic birch glued together and then milled on the router. Just a fun idea for the special fermentation chamber lid I’m building for my daughter’s latest project.

This was my birthday, a day at the airport working on my planes and then out for a flight. I always try for a flight on my birthday as my present. Doesn’t always happen but this year has been exceptional for winter flying. A nice supper and wine by the fire to wrap it up. Hope I can keep this routine going for a decade or two.

A beauty of a day with nice mild weather. The recent extended thaw has bared all the south facing slopes of snow. Out for a hike on our trail, we stopped at the place known as Blarney Stone to take it in. Later Ursula stopped for her favourite rib chew.

A busy start for the month of February with an anticipated tsunami on its way. This week I’m helping out .andres with a sound system build that’s headed out to Winnipeg next week. Two 18” subs and 2 Midrange speakers. Lookout , some high quality sound headed your way!

This is the kinda stuff that a CNC router is ace at! Can you imagine trying to do it with a hole saw? New Year’s resolution is to get my act together in the wine room and get ahead of the game. Judy and I bottled 84 bottles last week and about the same to go in about a month. It’s fun!

I built this sign for the entrance to our greenhouse business a number of years ago using HDU purchased from . The tree stumps that it sits are faux concrete that Nancy and Penny and I built on a weekend get together in Vernon. This sign gets full exposure to the wildest weather and it continues to look great year after year. Need a special sign or a theme look for your place? We can help.

The January thaw landed here a few days ago and we have been enjoying the break from the cold. Today was a perfect day to get out for a flight, the first fly of the year! The temperatures at 5000 feet were in the teens (C) and no cabin heat was required. Pretty nice! The landscape out in the east country looks almost lunar this time of the year.

As I work towards more efficient workflow, one of my goals was to be able to handle those jobs that generate a lot of pieces, sometimes large pieces, coming off the router table and not have them pile up in places that require repeated moves. Shop cart can handle that. Another goal is to keep the assembly table free of tools and stuff but be close at hand as I work. I made it completely flexible with different holders for tools. Happy to say that the first cabinet build using Shop Cart went very smoothly and as planned. I’ve got more ideas for how I can use and add to its abilities.

This Christmas the shop got a new gantry crane and electric winch. Last year I found that safely getting cabinets, pantries and heavy signs off the assembly table and onto the floor was getting a wee bit too risky for this one man show. This makes it quick and safe and less chance of damage to the piece or me. Today’s lift was just too easy!
