With the recent findings of unmarked graves at residential school sites and the horrifying truths of our past brought to light, this Canada Day, let’s take time to reflect upon rather than celebrate our country. In the words of Chief Cadmus Delorme – “People are healing, and people are hurting, let's do something about it.”
As a non-indigenous Canadian, what can you do?
Learn. Acknowledge that these events happened and begin to educate yourself on how to best honour the lost and the survivors.
Listen. If you missed it yesterday, in partnership with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF), A DAY TO LISTEN is dedicated to sharing stories from Indigenous leaders, residential school survivors, elders, musicians, and teachers throughout the day.
