Blue Yonder Creative With a passion for design, authenticity, and going beyond the ordinary, I bring stories and ideas to life. To be inspired by beauty each and every day.

-Trina

Blue Yonder Creative is a graphic design, brand, and illustration studio on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, creating for environmental and social impact. I began my career with a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Graphic Design degree (with honours) from Vancouver Island University. Having spent years working as a designer in both agency and non-profit settings provided unique experiences on both

sides of the spectrum; the tenacity and discipline of working in a fast-paced creative agency, and the importance of relationships and client experience in a non-profit realm. I enjoy connecting with those who are striving to be the best version of themselves and/or their business. I love seeing good people and good ideas succeed and I am excited to be a part of the story. Blue Yonder Creative is the outcome of my lifelong dream to live and create in a more remote, natural setting. To create impactful design work that is of benefit to our world.

There’s something special about designing for the place you live.

This series of 10 large-format signs for the Loon Foundation’s past Monitoring Symposium highlights data and observations from Pender Harbour’s coastal species. From seaweed to salmon, the Coastal Waters Monitoring Program tracks changes across these aquatic ecosystems, helping inform science-based decisions about the future of local waterways.

Have you ever considered the role a tree plays in our marine ecosystems?

From forest to the deep sea, this suite of scientific illustrations was created for a global review paper commissioned through Jon Dickson and the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ).

Five illustrated diagrams were created to visually communicate the ecological role of wood in aquatic ecosystems, highlighting the differences in a healthy system versus the ways human activity has disrupted these natural processes. Check out the full project on my website (https://www.blueyondercreative.ca/portfolio/wood-to-sea-infographics).

Illustration and infographic design are powerful tools for communicating complex research to broader audiences. If you have important research to share, I’d love to help you extend your impact.

From my coastal backyard, to you and yours, I hope the calm stillness of winter finds you this season.

On a personal note, this past year has been defined by growth as I re-branded Blue Yonder Creative with a new website and a refined vision. The uncertainty of growth can feel like the opposite of stillness, but I’m continuing to learn the importance and balance of the two. I’m reminding myself that growth doesn’t have to be flashy to be of value.

Thank you to my clients, fellow creatives, and community for your continued support in all of my creative endeavours. I wouldn’t be here without you!

Wishing you the coziest of holidays and may you find joy in your own winter wonderland, wherever that may be.

Have you visited Tetrahedron Park recently? If so, you may have noticed a new series of interpretive signs along the trail to Mt. Steele. In partnership with Sunshine Coast Natural History Society and BC Parks, these signs were designed to increase biodiversity awareness on the Sunshine Coast. Each sign depicts specific flora and fauna to identify while travelling through the park, providing an opportunity for education and engagement.

Check out the full project, now live on the portfolio (website link in bio).

Do you know of a park or wild space that could benefit from an interactive, educational component? Let’s be in touch!

A couple of party Sasquatches made a late summer appearance in Pender Harbour!

Branching out from my typical digital design work, this mural was hand-painted to create an engaging photo opportunity for a 70th birthday celebration.

Do you know of someone who could benefit from the impact and interaction of a large-scale mural? Helen Eady (.creative) and I have recently joined forces to create Anemone Murals here on the Sunshine Coast – link in bio to learn more!

A deep immersion kayaking into the wilderness of the Nuu-chah-nulth territory. Beach painting, salty swims, white sand, sea otters, relentless wind, relentless sun, tropical snorkelling, and poke bowls magically concocted from the depths of a kayak hatch.

My creativity and awe have been replenished!
