“Oh Canada Eh!” 🇨🇦 began as a photo I took on one of my walks back in 2017. I used to wander with my camera all the time, collecting small moments of nature. These days I’m much more focused on painting, but this piece feels like a bridge between those two parts of my creative life. The butterfly — a symbol that’s been with me for over 30 years — brings that familiar thread of transformation, movement, and quiet shift. And the leaf, the season, the pause between one thing and the next… it all echoes the themes I explore in my Ebb & Flow series. Even though it didn’t make the OMAH exhibit, Tradition Transformed: What the Canadian landscape means to me. I’m proud of how it turned out.

I’ve created an art journal from one of the many piano music books you graciously donated to me!
New cover created & the beginnings of many journal pages to come. Using it to explore ideas, composition, colour, marks, whatever! Hoping that it will help me break through the messy middle of my paintings…God knows how much problem I have with that.

The canvas is getting bigger, lol!
This one I call “Crossing in Quiet Motion” - I’m leaning into the organic meets geometric marks that happen with the catalyst wedge, letting the paint pull into quiet crossings and subtle shifts. I love how these wedge marks create their own rhythm — part structure, part drift — a quiet conversation across the surface.
