The future is arriving on Vancouver Island this week at The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit, where Paul Healy from Futurus in Ireland is “livebeamed” via Hologram into Nanaimo to deliver his keynote address.

The innovative technology - developed through a collaboration between FuturVille, Proto Hologram, and the Vancouver Island Conference Centre — will make its debut Thursday, October 29th at the Summit.

💬 “Our goal is to make global connections feel local,” said Julie Sperber, executive director of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance, in a release. “This technology helps Vancouver Island leaders experience the power of AI and innovation first-hand - connecting your business and community in ways that make the world feel smaller.”

With over 600 leaders from business, government, First Nations, and communities attending, this showcase marks a major step in how technology can bring people - and ideas - closer together. 🌍✨

What's on at Parksville Beach Festival opening week...

🏰 Experience the magic of sand art at the Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition July 11-13. Witness 30 master sculptors from around the world compete! Gates open to the public at 2pm on Fri July 11. Competition ends at 2:45pm on Sun July 13 with awards presented at 5pm.
Can't make the opening weekend? The sculptures are on exhibit until Sun August 17. Admission by donation.
🏰The public will have an opportunity to learn sand sculpting techniques used by the professionals at the Parksville Canadian Tire - Lessons & Demonstrations Sat Jul 12 & Sun Jul 13 from 10am to 5pm. Hands on fun for all ages!
