Today, I'm thinking about my grandmother.

She was a survivor of the Indian Residential School system.
She was also a dedicated member of the Survivors Society.

She carried more than most of us will ever be asked to carry.
And she still showed up for her community.

That stayed with me.

As a proud Métis woman, I've spent years finding my way back to a heritage that was broken apart over generations. Every piece I find, I think of her. Her resilience is part of the roots this business grew from.

So here's something we don't talk about much:

🧡 Every year on September 30, Creative Dynamics donates to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.

Not only in a good year.
Not only when there's extra.
Every year, on this day. No matter what.

And we try to keep giving throughout the year, too.

It's not a campaign. It's how I honour her.

For over 30 years, IRSSS has provided Indigenous-led wellness, emotional, and crisis support to Survivors and their families. That work matters every single day, not just on September 30.

Mentor in the morning. Judge in the afternoon. 🙌

On Tuesday, September 29, I'll be at the Startup Canada Tour in Victoria, and I get to wear two hats.

☕ In the morning, I'm in the Ask the Expert Lounge, sitting down with women founders from the Startup Women community to talk marketing and branding.

🎤 In the afternoon, I'm on the mainstage judging the pitch competition Finals. Five founders will pitch for $8,500 and a spot at the Grand Finale in Mississauga.

Here's what I know about pitching.

It's not just a presentation.
It's years of late nights and big dreams, packed into a few minutes on a stage.
It takes real courage to stand up and say, "This is what I'm building."

I'll be in that room cheering for every single one of them. 💛

Because that's what this is really about. You can do anything. You just shouldn't have to do all of it alone.

When I was the age of the kids in that room, I didn't know what dyslexia was.

I just knew school felt heavier for me than it seemed to for everyone else. I knew I felt like I was on the outside of something everyone else understood. I had a voice, and I quietly decided it wasn't the kind anyone wanted to hear.

Last month I got to be the speaker and mentor for a BeaYOUtiful Foundation session, with a room of kids ages 8 to 14, talking about leadership, confidence, and what it looks like to build something of your own.

There I was at the front of the room. Same age I once was, standing on the other side of it.

I kept thinking about the girl who would have needed to hear this.

But what hit me most was being able to bring my daughter into the room to watch me. I hope I'm helping shape a better world for her, and for anyone who struggles with confidence, shyness, and the feeling that they don't quite fit.

I've carried that girl into everything I've built. When I started Creative Dynamics Virtual Services in 2019, I learned the hard way that capability was never my problem. Trying to hold it all on my own was. It's why we build operations around how a founder's mind actually works, instead of asking them to think like someone else.

Kids who learn early that they can lead, speak up, and ask for help grow into founders who aren't still trying to prove they belong.

If one kid left that room a little lighter, a little surer of themselves, that's the whole thing.

Your mind is beautiful. You belong here. We are all uniquely different, and that has always been the good part.

I get it. Pricing isn't just math. It's history. It's every money story you picked up long before you ever started a business.

So here's your permission slip:
You're allowed to be paid well for work you're genuinely great at.
Not someday. Not once you've "earned it." Now.

Undercharging isn't humble.
It's exhausting.
And you're the one quietly paying for it. 💸
