I started Creative Dynamics in 2019 to help other moms work from home. Flexible work, built around real lives, on their own terms.

And then somewhere in building it, I became the exact thing I was trying to solve. Every decision came through me. Every answer, every "I'll just do it, it's faster." I was the bottleneck in the business I started so nobody would have to feel like that.

I kept thinking the fix was more hands. It wasn't. Another person just gave the pile somewhere new to land.

That's not a people problem. It's a roots problem, and I learned it the expensive way.

So that's not how we start. Before anyone touches your business, we sit down and list every single thing you're currently holding. Then we go through it line by line.

This one only works because it's you, so it stays yours. This one should be a system, so we build it. This one a tool can handle. This one someone else can own. And this one shouldn't exist at all, so it goes.

Sometimes we get to the bottom of that list and you don't need to hire anybody. If that's the answer, I'll tell you.

What that looks like on the other side: a Monday you're not dreading. Someone else answering the question you've answered forty times. A business that keeps running through a week where your focus is gone. Our clients are living in that version right now, and I want that for you too.

We won a Canadian Choice Award in 2026 and we could not have done it without our clients. 🇨🇦 Not a single part of it. Founders across Canada took a minute out of their day to say something, and that's the only reason there was anything to celebrate. I still think about it.

Nominations for 2027 are open now. It's free, it takes about a minute, and every one counts toward getting there again.

So if something we built is still quietly running in your business without you in the middle of it, that's what I'd love you to nominate us for. 💛

Breaking Norms, Building Dreams Episode 52 Beyond the Pink Slip with Karson Brooks

On Breaking Norms, Building Dreams, we go past the surface of leadership, culture, and business to uncover the real stories shaping our workplaces and communities.

This week, we’re asking: What happens when leadership forgets the human side of layoffs?

Guest: Karson Brooks — Oklahoma City-based designer, illustrator, and creative community builder whose work blends bold storytelling, art, and advocacy for people-first spaces.

Karson and I first connected on TikTok when one of her videos about being laid off went viral. Her story resonated with me instantly — not just because of the raw honesty, but because so many of us can relate to the experience of being treated like a number instead of a human.

Tune in LIVE Monday at 12:00 PM PST / 3:00 PM EST
on 105.3 & 107.7 FM (United Public Radio, New Orleans)

 We’ll dive into:
→ What layoffs reveal about company culture
→ The emotional + mental toll of cold offboarding
→ You can outsource HR tasks, but you can’t outsource humanity.
→ How workplaces can rebuild culture when the damage is public

The cost of waiting isn't what you think it is.

You turned down work last month. Not because you didn't want it. Because you couldn't see where it would fit.

That's the part nobody counts, because it never shows up as a loss. It shows up as:

- A project you didn't take
- A hire you didn't feel ready for
- A quarter that looked fine on paper and felt like drowning

Most service businesses I meet aren't short on demand. They're short on room. The work comes in, and somewhere between the enquiry and the delivery, it all routes through one person. You.

So you say no. Or you say yes and absorb it, and something else slips.

That isn't a discipline problem. Nobody ever built the layer underneath the work, so you've been holding it with your hands.

You can't offload what was never built.

If you turned something down this year, that's your signal. Not a slow month.

A yes you couldn't say.

Message me and tell me what you turned down. I'll tell you honestly whether it's an operations problem or something else.

If they ever make a documentary, this is what it would be about.

Almost 9 years.

No office.

A kitchen table.

Two kids.

They grew up in the background of it all.

Built a business from passion, so other moms can do the same.

Still building, just not alone.

You feel it right away.

Nobody does this alone.

That was the whole energy of my time as a guest on the Mission Accepted Podcast with of . Real conversation. Real people. Zero pretending we all figured it out on our own.

The episode goes live in late September.

You know I'll be sharing it the second it drops.
