There are a lot of “rules” when it comes to design and branding. In my humbleee opinion, each project is unique, and has its own set of needs.
Here are a few rules I’m happily breaking.🙃
01. Your logo needs to be simple.
Nah, this is optional.
02. You should only use 2-3 colours.
Yes, a lot of the time this is true. But, use as many as the brand needs.
03. Professional = polished and serious.
Usually the brands that rake risk stand out the most. If you want this look, cool, but it doesn’t have to be.
04. You need to know exactly what you want.
Nope. That’s what a designer is for. And, things can change.
05. Your brand needs to be perfectly visually cohesive.
Wrong. Cohesive doesn’t mean everything has to match. Give it things some personality.
06. There’s only one right way to build a brand.
No. There’s one right way for YOUR brand.
07. You need to play it safe.
Safe is forgettable. Make something people remember.
Design isn’t about following rules just because they’re rules. Who set these??
It’s about making the right choices for your brand.🫶
