Happy International Women's Day! Today, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of women around the world. One such woman who has made a significant impact in the advertising industry is Mary Wells Lawrence.
As the first woman to be CEO of her own agency, Lawrence broke barriers and paved the way for other women to follow in her footsteps. Her agency, Wells, Rich, and Greene Inc. was also the first agency with a female CEO to be featured in the New York Stock Exchange.
Despite facing challenges along the way, Lawrence persevered and was able to build a successful company with her coworkers.WRG secured several large contracts and went public in 1968 with Lawrence as chairman of the board and CEO. Her resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to all of us.
