Happy Easter from Hong Kong! This weekend the city is full of amazing displays and events! This is a vibrant outdoor art exhibition in Central Hong Kong. Interactive eggs! Touch them and they change colour!

Answer?
Try to accommodate them if you can, give them more wine to keep them quiet 😂, focus on the other more polite guests and don’t invite the rude ones back!! What would you do?

I received my first gift for the :) A delicious selection of cakes, some resembling mandarins.
At the moment, Hong Kong is full of beautiful small mandarin orange trees, every building entrance way, outside every shop, inside the bars, restaurants and even in the streets. Red lanterns are hanging from the ceilings everywhere, inside and outside. It’s the chinese festive equivalent of hanging Christmas lights!

🍊Orange mandarin trees signify luck and wealth
🏮 Red lanterns symbolize good fortune and joy
🧧Red envelopes called ‘lai see’ are used to give gifts of money and symbolize good luck and prosperity

It’s all about the ‘word play’ when it comes to !

I recently had an interesting video call with a reporter from Business Insider. The topic - Etiquette & Politicians. One US politician in particular has been heavily critiqued on his lack of social skills and awkwardness interacting with voters.

An understanding of Social & Business Etiquette is an invaluable tool that we can all use to our advantage in day to day life.

Behind the scene!
Yesterday I had to improvise a dining etiquette session while I’m travelling.
I arranged the place setting, set up my laptop as best as could, then the sun changed in the room and I had to rearrange everything quickly at the last minute 😅 With random tableware, a weak wifi, extension cables and some books to prop up my laptop I managed to deliver the session.
I always travel with my little ‘toolbox’ of silverware just in case I need them and as I know my topic very well, I didn’t need to worry about anything else.

So it has been 2 years since we first connected, almost 1 year since we started our podcast and finally today we met in person for the first time!!

We had a wonderful time, it felt like first date yet was like meeting family!!

As you all know … I love to eat and I really enjoyed some authentic Korean food, a smokeless barbecue restaurant! This wasn’t my first time enjoying but you can always learn something knew from a good host!

What I learned about the etiquette:

1. Wait your turn to serve yourself.
2. The host likes to serve you.
3. Using chopsticks or prongs are normal for serving oneself.
4. Hands are used for wrapping and rolling as necessary.
5. Expect a multitude of side dishes and dips!

Bonus tips that my host didn’t tell me…
Metal chopsticks are usually used, but be warned they can be harder to use than wooden ones!
Oh and one more, expect copious amounts of alcohol 🍷 😅
