Now our days, marketing has gradually evolve over the years. This was due to the realization by companies that consumers wants and needs were more important than the varieties of products in the market because companies had to do their research on the various choices of goods/products to suit the changing market. This concept was presented by Philip Kotler in the early 90s which is known as modern marketing ( Digital Marketing).
Since from the time of its conception, Modern/Digital marketing has rapidly taken over traditional marketing. In simple words, Modern marketing means, discovering potential customers and producing goods or services in such a way to fulfill the needs and wants of the customers. It in turns promotes brand to connect with potential buyers using the internet and other forms of digital platforms such as; Email, social media, web base ads.
The aims of the modern marketing are the satisfaction of the customers or consumers and marketing across multiple channels to reach different consumers.
Looking at the modern marketing concept, we will consider three main important points which are;
• Global Reaching: It give the company/enterprise visibility in both the national and international market through the different digital channels of communication.
• Measurable Results: Results can be measured through the number of people reached, followers, engagements, and likes. With these statistics, it enables you to determine your milestone.
• Open New Markets: Digital marketing gives opportunities to enter new markets where one can display verities of products.
Looking at some setbacks, we will focus our attention on three points.
• Skills and Training: Most digital marketers are not well trained and thus lack the necessary skills needed to use the different social media plat form, to attain the scope of this marketing concept.
• Time-consuming: Sticking on a digital marketing strategy, entails a lot of time in other to archive a desirable result (6 to 12 months or more). This may come as a result of lack of frequent posts and poor-quality contents.
• Security and Privacy Issues: One of the most common problems with Digital Marketing is the issue of account hacking faced by many users.
