✨ Another amazing Friends of Figma Cyprus event is in the books!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for an honest and insightful conversation about portfolios, hiring, and what businesses actually look for when evaluating creatives.

Special thanks to Zoe Georgiou, Creative Director of BLCK_NORTH, for sharing her perspective from the business side, answering tough questions, and helping bridge the gap between designers and decision-makers.

One of the highlights of the evening was reviewing real portfolio case studies together and discussing them from both business and design perspectives. The conversations were thoughtful, practical, and incredibly valuable.

And of course, thank you to our wonderful community for showing up, asking great questions, sharing experiences, and making every Friends of Figma Cyprus event feel welcoming and inspiring.

🎨 Want feedback on your portfolio?

As part of our upcoming Friends of Figma Cyprus event "Your Portfolio Got Ghosted?" On the 13th of June, we're inviting designers to submit one case study for a live review.

This is an opportunity to understand how businesses, agencies, and creative directors evaluate creative work.

Selected submissions will be reviewed anonymously during the event, with constructive feedback from both perspectives:

Friends of Figma Cyprus has a new visual identity 🌊☀️

This rebrand is deeply connected to the island itself: its history, colours, textures, and the feeling of Cyprus.

🟠 Our orange is not just a colour, it represents the material that gave Cyprus its name. Cyprus was once the world’s main source of copper, and even the Latin word cuprum (Cu) traces back to the island.

🌊 The turquoise tones come from the sea surrounding the island, especially the coast of Paphos, birthplace of Aphrodite.

⭕ The interlocking circle motif is inspired by the ancient mosaic floors of Roman Paphos. The repeating pattern symbolizes community, overlap, collaboration, and the way creative people connect through design.
