Subject: Request for the Official Recognition of the South East State
Your Excellencies
We respectfully submit this formal request for the recognition of the South East State as a Federal Member State within the constitutional framework of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The establishment of the South East State reflects the legitimate aspirations of its people to participate fully in Somalia's federal system through democratic governance, inclusive representation, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.
This initiative is founded upon the principles of the Provisional Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia, which promotes federalism, power-sharing, local self-governance, and national unity.
We respectfully call upon the Federal Government of Somalia to undertake all constitutional and legal processes necessary for the formal recognition of the South East State as a Federal Member State.
We also appeal to the international community, including the United Nations, the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the European Union, development partners, and all relevant institutions, to support an inclusive, transparent, and constitutional process that respects the will of the people and contributes to lasting peace, stability, and democratic governance in Somalia.
We appreciate your attention to this important matter and look forward to your positive engagement.
