The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to feature several significant updates to the Laws of the Game introduced by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

From stricter disciplinary measures and enhanced VAR authority to new time-management protocols and revised substitution regulations, the tournament will showcase a number of changes aimed at improving the flow and integrity of the game.

Key amendments include stronger sanctions for dissent, new measures to reduce time-wasting, expanded VAR intervention in specific situations, updated substitution procedures, and mandatory hydration breaks when required by match conditions.

The reforms are designed to promote fair play, improve match efficiency, and strengthen the authority and protection of match officials at the highest level of football.

In a milestone for Omani football, 20-year-old midfielder Suhayd Al Kharusi has signed a three-year contract with Genoa CFC. Having progressed through the Italian club's youth system, Al Kharusi becomes the first Omani player to sign a professional contract with a Serie A club.

Known for his technical prowess and physical abilities, he made 28 appearances in Campionato Primavera 1, Italy’s top youth competition, and logged more than 1,000 competitive minutes against the youth sides of leading Serie A clubs.

“The club believed in me from the beginning and gave me everything I needed to grow as a footballer and as a young man,” Al Kharusi said. ”Signing this long-term agreement with Genoa CFC is a moment of great pride for me, my family, and for Oman.
Established in 1893, Genoa is Italy’s oldest-existing football team and competes in the country’s top footballing division.

The Mafarid race, the opening event of Saudi Arabia’s 2026-2027 camel racing season, is set to begin on June 13th with a prize pool exceeding SAR 2.5 million.

Held at Taif Camel Square, the competition will be contested across 156 rounds spread over three stages and will feature races for Mafarid-category camels.

The first stage will take place over two days beginning June 13th and will include 66 rounds run over a distance of 1,500 metres. Competitions will feature the Bakkar and Qadan categories, covering young female and male camels, in addition to general Bakkar races.

The second stage is scheduled to begin on June 27th and will also be held over two days. Like the opening stage, it will comprise 66 rounds over 1,500 metres across the same racing categories.
The final stage will be held on July 18th and will feature 24 rounds contested over a two-kilometre course.

Among the concluding races will be four cup rounds, including two reserved exclusively for Saudi-bred camels.
The Mafarid race traditionally marks the start of the camel racing calendar and serves as the opening event of the new season, bringing together owners, trainers and competitors from across the Kingdom.

في تكرار لمواجهة نهائي بطولة العالم الأخيرة بمصر، تلتقي المصريتان، نور الشربيني، المصنفة الثانية عالميًا، وأمينة عرفي، المصنفة الثالثة عالميًا، في نهائي بطولة بريطانيا المفتوحة للاسكواش، أقدم وأعرق بطولات اللعبة على الإطلاق، والتي يبلغ مجموع جوائزها 346 ألف دولار للرجال ومثلهم للسيدات، وتستضيفها برمنجهام البريطانية خلال الفترة بين 26 مايو وحتى السابع من يونيو الجاري.

ونجحت حاملة لقب بطولة العالم أمينة عرفي في التأهل للمباراة النهائية عقب تغلبها على مواطنتها هانيا الحمامي، المصنفة الأولى عالميًا، بنتيجة 3-1، وجاءت نتيجة الأشواط: 11-8, 11-7, 14-16, 11-6.

بينما تأهلت نور الشربيني بالفوز 3-0 على اليابانية ساتومي واتنبي، بنتيجة أشواط 11-7، 11-4، 11-3.

وتعد المواجهة تكرارًا لمباراة اللاعبتين في نهائي بطولة العالم والتي استضافتها بالم هيلز في شهر مايو الماضي، وحينها نجحت أمينة في الفوز على نور بنتيجة 3-2، لتتوج بأول لقب لها في بطولة العالم.

يذكر أن المصرية نوران جوهر هي حاملة لقب بطولة بريطانيا المفتوحة، حيث توجت بالنسخة الماضية عقب تغلبها على نور الشربيني في المباراة النهائية.

ولد فرانسيلودو سيلفا دوس سانتوس عام 1979 في البرازيل، وحلم كأي طفل هناك بارتداء قميص السامبا، لكن الأقدار قادته لكتابة التاريخ في شمال إفريقيا. بدأت مسيرته في ستاندار لييج البلجيكي، ثم انتقل للنجم الساحلي التونسي حيث فجر طاقته التهديفية بـ 32 هدفًا في 50 مباراة، وقادهم للقب كأس الاتحاد الإفريقي 1999 بثنائية شهيرة في شباك الزمالك، لتفتح له أوروبا أبوابها مجددًا عبر أندية فرنسية كسوشو وتولوز، وزيورخ السويسري.

شراكته الهجومية مع زياد الجزيري في سوسة غيرت مجرى حياته؛ فمع تبدد حلمه بتمثيل البرازيل، أقنعه الجزيري بنيل الجنسية التونسية عام 2003. تحول سانتوس سريعًا إلى أسطورة لـ «نسور قرطاج»؛ فقادهم بـ 4 أهداف للتتويج بلقب كأس الأمم الإفريقية 2004 التاريخي ضد المغرب.

Libyan sport has made history. Intisar Shneib, Member of Parliament for the city of Derna, has been elected president of the storied Darnes Sports Club in the country’s east, becoming the first woman to lead a sports club in the entire history of both the Kingdom and the Republic of Libya. Her appointment came after every competing slate withdrew from the race in her favour.

Shneib is expected to formally assume her duties within the next two weeks, presiding over a board of directors that will comprise between seven and eleven members.

Shneib described the moment as “a crowning achievement for every woman in Libya,” while acknowledging in the same breath that it is “a heavy burden and no easy task.” She confirmed that her decision to accept the role came in response to persistent pressure and repeated appeals from the club’s administration, its supporters, and the people of Derna — driven by her desire to prove that Libyan women can give and succeed in spaces that were once the exclusive domain of men, particularly within an institution of Darnes Club’s stature.

For his part, the club’s acting General Assembly president, Mohamed Abd El-Ati, made clear that Shneib’s selection and endorsement as the sole candidate was a deliberate move to harness her extensive and powerful network to push the club forward.
