Why Your Laptop’s Battery Time Estimate Is Always Wrong — Here’s the Real Test

Don't be fooled by the "Estimated Time Remaining" Windows shows for your laptop battery. This number is just an estimate based on what you're doing at that moment.

For example, if you're browsing the web, typing in Word, or watching a movie, Windows might say you have 4 or 5 hours left. But as soon as you open power-hungry apps like Photoshop, AutoCAD, or video editors, that estimate can drop quickly because your laptop is using more power.

The opposite is true as well. If the estimate shows only 1 hour left, switching to lighter tasks can make your battery last much longer than expected.

So, how do you really test your laptop battery? Simple: use it as you normally would and see how long it lasts doing the tasks that matter most to you.

Designers: test it while designing

Students: test it during classes and assignments

Business owners: test it during your daily work

That’s the true measure of battery life.

Also, don’t forget to check your battery health and battery report. They show the battery’s condition, while actual usage shows how long it can meet your needs.

Battery estimates can change every minute, but real-life usage tells the real story of your battery life.

Backend Developers: The Invisible Backbone of the Web

Backend developers are the unseen champions of the digital world. While no one cheers for them, their work powers every smooth login, every fast payment, and every secure transaction you make online.
They keep your favorite apps running smoothly, even when millions of users log in at once. They protect your data from flying around the internet and prevent a single wrong click from deleting your entire account.
Despite all this, when things go wrong, people blame “the website.” When everything works perfectly, no one says a word. That’s because backend developers don’t work for applause—they build for stability, performance, and trust.
Without the backend, there is no frontend. It’s like a car without an engine—shiny on the outside but useless on the road.
This message is for every backend developer who writes thousands of lines of code no one will ever see, who fixes bugs late into the night, who creates logic that never trends but quietly holds everything together.
You are not invisible—you are indispensable. You are not underrated—you are the backbone of the digital world.
So the next time you use an app that just works, remember: behind that seamless experience, a backend developer made it possible.
Respect the ones you don’t see, because they are the ones holding everything up. Tag a backend developer and remind them—they are seen and appreciated.

Mastering the Art of Reading Code: A Guide for Developers

In the world of software development, you’ll often spend far more time reading code than writing it. Whether you’re joining a new project or making small tweaks, understanding the existing codebase can mean digging through hundreds—or even thousands—of lines of code.

This challenge goes beyond just scanning text. You need to grasp how data flows through the system, why certain files and methods exist, what each variable’s role is, and which environment variables the project depends on. It’s a complex puzzle that requires patience and strategy.

To help you navigate this intricate process, I wrote an article that breaks down effective techniques for reading and understanding code. It’s designed to make this essential skill less daunting and more manageable.

Check it out and let me know your thoughts—I’d love to hear how it helps you become more confident and efficient in tackling any codebase.

🚨 WHY SO MANY PEOPLE GIVE UP ON TECH TOO SOON

It’s not always because the concepts are difficult.

Sometimes, it’s because they try to do everything alone.

When you're learning in isolation:

• Every bug feels like a major problem • Every mistake feels like a personal failure • Every challenge feels impossible to overcome

Before long, self-doubt starts creeping in:

"Maybe tech just isn't for me."

But often, all it takes is one conversation, one piece of advice, or one supportive community to change everything.

That’s the power of being around the right people.

In a strong tech community, you can:

✅ Ask questions without fear ✅ Learn from others’ experiences ✅ Stay motivated during tough times ✅ See real examples of growth and success

Your environment has a bigger impact on your progress than you think.

The right community won't write code for you, but it can give you the support, knowledge, and confidence to keep moving forward.

And sometimes, that changes your entire future. 🚀

According to my computer science lecturer, if a company hires you to build and maintain their system, and then one day decides to replace you, your code should be so clear that the new programmer can understand it and start working on it within a short time.

Now here's what surprised me:

Why are programmers expected to be the bigger person? 🌝

Imagine spending months or even years building a system, only for the company to replace you. Then within a day, your replacement is already fixing bugs, adding features, and maintaining everything smoothly.

That's wild. 😂

Not only did the programmer lose the job, but the system barely noticed they were gone.

What's even more impressive is that the same programmer could join another company, build a brand-new system, and still write the code in a way that allows someone else to take over easily if they ever leave.

That level of professionalism takes serious discipline.

Writing code isn't just about making it work. It's about making it understandable for the next person who has to read it.

As it stands, my respect for programmers has increased significantly.

With that being said, I think it's time I start paying more attention to how I name my variables. 🌝🌝
