➡🌟💬 Is DO CAVA just a business or also a responsibility? This was the topic of a double panels discussion moderated by Pedro Ballesteros MW at the Cava Meeting 2025, which highlighted the importance of cooperatives and the crucial moment Cava is currently experiencing, and which also championed the role of women in Cava through its female oenologists.
👉🏼The first round table featured Jordi Amell, CEO of Castell d’Or; Sergio Fuster, CEO of Raventós Codorníu; Luciano García-Carrión Corujo, vice-president and 5th generation of García Carrión; Josep Palau, CTO of Grupo Freixenet; Pere Ventura, founder of Pere Ventura Family Wine Estates; and Marta Vida, CEO of Vallformosa. The second round table featured Marta Casas, winemaker at Parés Baltà; Pere Guilera, president of Cava Guilera; Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets, founder and winemaker at Art Laietà d’Alta Alella; Mireia Tetas, third generation at Bodegas Pinord; and Jaume Vial, commercial director at Mestres.
🥂Both panels also featured Javier Pagés, president of D.O. CAVA, who pointed out ‘the enthusiasm that all the wineries are showing’ and stressed that “the opportunity for Cava exists, sparkling wine is growing, consumers have many alternatives and each one has to fight for them. Cava has an incredible foundation, we have a gem and an excellent position, we have identity, it is Mediterranean and it has the traditional method. We have to reach out with emotion, with experiences, and for that, communication is key. We will be much more if we are united and work tirelessly. Cava should not be afraid.”
