If you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering if you’re burnt out 😭

Here's my advice from someone who's been there, done that and who is actively taking steps to avoid burning out again.

Hope it helps ###

If I'm being honest, I'd say probably 99% of my clients have this one thing in common...

They all hate social media and they struggle to implement a content strategy.

And I don't blame them. Sometimes when we have 100 different choices, we can get choice paralysis. And I've seen this happen time and time again when business owners try to create, post and manage their own social media.

But really, these clients struggle because:
👉🏽 they’re talking to everyone and lose sight of their audience.
👉🏽 they don’t know what their content pillars are and post random things that get 5 likes because it's not strategic content.
👉🏽 and they rely on motivation instead of structure to generate their content ideas which means if they're feeling uninspired, they aren't going to be able to create content today.

I've broken down step by step how I approach a content strategy for Instagram. And this same process can be applied to any business or Insta account.

Of course, if you've been struggling with socials for a while, maybe content planning isn't the cause. Sometimes, business owners don't have the time. So if that's you, feel free to head to my website and enquire to partner together for 2026.

This is what my days look like as a marketing freelancer living in Spain 🤍

Generally, I like to have my client meetings in the morning (any time from 7:30am) and then I leave the afternoons for deeper design/client work.

Earlier in my freelancer career, I fell into a trap of having a flexible schedule, no routine and no personal boundaries around meetings. But this left me feeling more stressed and ultimately led to being completely burnt out. What I learnt was that a routine kept me accountable, took away a lot of the mental stress and a calendar kept my mind at ease. I no longer do things on the fly, and I even schedule out my activities outside of work like exercise and catching up with friends.

I carve out time to take a lunch break and sure, my calendar changes all the time, but I know that having this routine and structure is what's sustainable for me and my business.

If you're a business owner, do you find it hard to manage your time? Or strike the right balance between work/life?

Finding this balance can be difficult, but remember that your personal time is just as important for recharging your energy so that you can show up the best you can in your business.

Guys, 2026 is bringing a few changes over here 👀

After more than 2 years, it's time that I face a hard truth. The service I offer now is vastly different to what I offered when I started freelancing back in 2020.

A lot has changed - not just in my design style, but also in my processes, tools, and creative thinking. I've learnt a heck of a lot, which means I've gotten better and more efficient at what I do, and this year I really want to continue growing and developing my craft. As a part of this I am always striving to build a sustainable business for the future.

What does that actually mean... "Building a sustainable business?"
For me, this looks like:
👉🏽 actually charging by value, not by the hour
👉🏽 investing in my business by investing in the right tools
👉🏽 saying 'no' to projects and clients who don't align (no hard feelings)
👉🏽 slowly building processes, templates and structures to standardise (as much as possible) what I do, and the scope of each project
👉🏽 continuing to adapt a growth mind set and exploring new methods, tools and ideas as the marketing and design world develops

I'm so excited to enter this new era of KW Creative with you all and as such, I've made the decision to increase my prices for 2026.

KW Creative 2025, wrapped💜

This past year I was fortunate enough to have had worked with some awesome brands and clients 🥹 I don't often share my work on my Instagram account, but if you're interested in seeing more of my portfolio, you can head to my website here: https://vist.ly/4pfwj

Some of the projects included in this carousel:
1. Asha Lola Photography: new website design for a Perth-based wedding photographer. I loved working on this project with Ash, creating a really cool scrapbook design for her new website and somewhere she could showcase her beautiful storytelling-style wedding photography.

2. Oniria Cafe: Oniria is one of my favourite coffee shops here in Girona, Spain and they wanted a website which showcased their brand as well as the art they sell in the cafe by Nora Salvat. The website was an ecommerce set-up and included custom CSS on Squarespace to allow for an enhanced user experience.

3. The Touchless Tan: Based in South Perth, we worked together first to develop the branding for their automatic spray tanning business. After the branding was developed, we then created the website and later launched the client's business on social media with ongoing social media management. The website included a custom questionnaire which allowed users to input their preferences and find the recommended spray tan colour suited to them.

4. All in Triathlon (Podcast by Jelle & Aaron): This is a triathlon focussed podcast and they wanted a brand that looked professional but also something which could become recognisable over time. The client wanted to develop merchandise and use the logo on platforms like Spotify, social media and Strava.

5. Wellness by Bon Dia: I developed a website for a pilates and yoga studio based in Girona, Spain. We included an integration with their booking system so potential clients could easily book classes and sign up to the studio.

6. Atyab Sweets: Based in Western Australia, I developed a branding suite for a local business selling authentic Lebanese sweets and desserts. The branding would be used on packaging, signage and other marketing collateral. The branding included logo variations in Arabic and English.

Look, your friends aren't going to tell you this...

ChatGPT is great for brainstorming. But it’s not great at sounding like YOU. Hooks only work when they feel personal and when they reflect your experience, your tone, and your perspective. And unfortunately, because of AI programs like ChatGPT, brands are starting to all sound the same. They're writing the same, using the dreaded long dash in their sentences and they're losing their true tone of voice.

And unfortunately AI systems are here to stay (at least for a while). So as business owners we're are now asking ourselves: HOW CAN I STAND OUT (when everyone sounds the same)?

The problem with generic hooks isn’t the format. It’s that they blend in. My advice? You can use tools to support your thinking, sure. But let your final hook come from real moments, real opinions, and real context.

That’s what makes someone stop scrolling. And that's how you can connect deeper with your ideal customers.

Postcards from our Porto trip in December 📸 I can officially confirm that the Portuguese Tarts ("pasteis de nata") are INCREDIBLE and I MIGHT have eaten one almost every day 🥹

Whenever I take a vacation or holiday, I always like to inform my clients so they are aware of how my holiday will affect their project timeline. Sometimes, I like to travel and work, whilst other times I need a complete switch off. This year, I have a few holidays in mind, including Copenhagen, France and hopefully a trip back to Australia to visit family.

Where are you travelling to this year? Send me your recommendations! ✈️

We often choose brand colours because they look good.
But most of the time, colours are doing something deeper.

Before someone reads your bio or understands what you offer,
your colours are already creating a feeling. That feeling might be trust. Or energy, or calm, or even confusion.

Colour psychology isn’t about rules or trends. It’s about intention - knowing what different colours communicate and deciding if that message matches your business and most importantly, if those colours align with your target audience.

So I’m curious: is your colour palette sending the wrong message?

If you're unsure if they are, or if your branding just doesn't feel aligned with your business any more, I can help. Hit the link in below and book a free 30-minute Intro Call.

If I could talk to my 20-year-old self, I’d probably tell her to relax a little. 😅
And no doubt, my 40, 50, 60 and older future self will have some serious words of advice for me now. But some lessons only land with time and that’s okay.

What would you like to tell your younger self?🤍

New to my page here? Read this first 👋🏽

Hi guys, I’m Kayla... a Perth-born marketing freelancer, creative and graphic designer now living in Girona, Spain. I’ve been in the world of marketing and design for over 10 years, and since going freelance in 2020, I’ve worked with 80+ amazing clients across all kinds of industries (and continents).

In that time, I’ve built over 30+ websites, designed 20+ logos, implemented various social media strategies and helped numerous brands feel more aligned, confident, and clear in how they show up online. I actually began my career by studying marketing and psychology, and it wasn't until much later that I studied graphic design.

If you know me, you'll know that I really love problem solving and finding creative solutions for my clients. I genuinely believe the marketing world has become way too noisy... Full of brands trying to out 'market' each other using copy-paste tactics that just don’t feel human. I see this every day in my feed. Marketing and advertising have become more about chasing likes and attention than real connection, which I'm not about.

I believe your brand should feel like YOU. That's why I'm on a mission to help brands market themselves with authenticity, clarity and creativity. I want to help businesses show up more authentically without getting caught up in what everyone else is doing.

If that sounds like something you're into, feel free to follow along, hang out in my corner of the internet, or send through any questions. If you want to connect further and work on transforming your brand and marketing together, head on over to my website to book an Intro Call. While I'm based in Spain, I work with clients globally in Australia, Spain/Europe and beyond.

I look forward to connecting with you 💜

Taking a moment to reflect on the last month of 2025. ✨

Despite December being very cold here in Spain, I enjoyed some of the simpler things. Time away, familiar faces, new places, quiet routines, and a few moments that reminded me why slowing down matters, especially when you're a business owner.

By the end of 2024 I was burnt out, demotivated and exhausted from spreading myself too thin and not prioritising a a work/life balance. Which is probably why it may not look progress from the outside, but by the end of 2025 I'm proud to say I've finished the year feeling rested, inspired, and ready to ease into whatever comes next in 2026. 🥹

This year, I'm leaving behind...
👉🏽 underselling myself
👉🏽 spreading myself too thin
👉🏽 and not prioritising myself before others

And heck, it feels so good when you are aligned with your work and respecting your own needs. 🥹

So if it's been a minute since you did your own work/life balance reality check, there's no time like the present. What are you leaving behind in 2025? ✨
