The "Corral de los refranes ayeranos" in La Polavieya is written entirely in ayerán, a highly localized Asturian language variant kept alive by grassroots community pride.

The phrase “Yes d'onde paces non d'onde naces” (You are from where you graze, not where you are born) beautifully shifts the definition of "home" from a mere birthplace to the community that actually sustains you.

Just a quick hop from Oviedo, we stumbled into pastry heaven at Xocolat, and it was absolute love at first sight for MJ with their Teclas! One bite and she officially declared it her new favorite thing on earth.

They have so many tempting varieties in the display case, it’s practically a hazard. Consider this your official warning: enter at your own risk and watch those sugar levels! 😂

Happy Día de Asturias! 💙
Today we are celebrating this beautiful, untamed corner of northern Spain we get to call home. From the wild coastal cliffs to the ancient paths of Foces de El Pino, this region has completely stolen our hearts. Asturias has taught us the true meaning of slow living, the beauty of unexpected detours, and how to properly pour a glass of sidra. Raising a glass today to our adopted home! Cheers! 🥳🇪🇸

We made a trip to the Asian grocery store in Lugones last weekend and walked out with a basket full of familiar comforts. No luck finding fresh okra this time around, but discovering these flavors just outside Oviedo always feels like a win.
