Let your imagination wonder free, ready your mobile phone and travel on your feet with the Giant Interactive Map experience Thousands of people of all ages will be able to walk on the giant interactive map where more than 100 QR codes to scan with mobile phones and that will provide a new travel experience through the most exciting destinations in the world, many declared by Unesco as World Heritage Sites. Go from one city to another, from one region to another with a single step and learn about the beauty and culture of the world, natural parks, biosphere reserves, landmarks, tourist attractions, learn about the destination's gastronomy, art, and so much more.

There are some sights that simply make you pause and marvel at nature🦩✨

If you’ve ever visited Cyprus during the winter, you probably know the iconic Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus). Every year, thousands of these stunning birds arrive to make the Larnaca Salt Lake their winter home, creating one of the most magical natural spectacles in the Mediterranean.
As part of our Augmented Reality surprises on the Giant Interactive Map, you’ll be able to bring the flamingo to life right in front of you, learn about its ecosystem, and understand how climate change impacts its migratory wetlands📲🌐

And because protecting species like the flamingo requires local passion and shared action, we’re also looking for DesirMED DesirMED Climate Ambassadors! Through the Climate Adaptation Diaries, citizens, researchers, and nature lovers are sharing their personal experiences and ideas to build a more resilient Mediterranean. If you love your local environment and want to make a difference, we want to hear your voice! 🌍💙

From city leaders to the people on the ground! 🗺️👥

At our last event, we saw local councilors and regional representatives step onto our Giant Interactive Map to collaborate. Now in Larnaca, we’re taking that same energy to the streets, inviting citizens, families, and visitors to step right onto the canvas!

When technology joins forces, the impact multiplies! 🤖✨

During our time in Málaga, we had a very special guest: the Innovasur team’s robot couldn’t resist joining in on the experience and took a stroll across our giant interactive map! It was fantastic to see how two completely different technological tools connect so seamlessly when they share a common purpose.
That’s really the heart of it: using innovation as a powerful ally—not just to connect cities, but to shed light on what we don’t always see at first glance, like the thousands of marine species that make our Mediterranean Sea so unique 🌊🦭🐢

In just a few days, the entire Giant Interactive Maps team will be bringing this exact experience to Larnaca, Cyprus for the .eu DesirMED Adaptation Festival. We can’t wait to use technology once again as a bridge to help people understand, protect, and reconnect with our natural environment ✨

¡Qué gran broche de oro para cerrar el VI Congreso Smart City RECI y Greencities en Málaga! 🚀✨

Hoy hemos puesto el punto final a dos jornadas intensísimas de innovación, aprendizaje y reencuentros. Y no podíamos haberlo celebrado de mejor manera que festejando los 15 años de la Red Española de Ciudades Inteligentes (RECI) RECI. Agradecer también a Fycma y al Ciudad de Málaga 🤝

Ha sido un auténtico orgullo y un placer representar y compartir espacio con la red de municipios que lidera la transformación urbana de nuestro país 🇪🇸

Para inmortalizar este gran cierre, nos quedamos con esta foto de familia desde las alturas ✨ Gracias de corazón a cada alcalde, concejal, técnico y colaborador que se ha pasado por nuestro stand a pisar el mapa gigante, interactuar y reflexionar sobre la identidad de sus territorios 🌍

Climate adaptation isn’t a solo journey—it’s a collective mission that transcends borders 🌊🤝

The Mediterranean basin is a shared ecosystem facing shared challenges. Protecting our marine biodiversity and building resilient coastal communities requires more than isolated local efforts; it demands seamless cooperation across regions, institutions, and borders. When regional data, scientific research, and local knowledge are brought together onto a single platform, complex ecological challenges transform into a clear, unified path forward 🤝

That is why the 1st DesirMED Adaptation Festival is bringing together key global and regional players in Larnaca. By creating a space where regional decision-makers, scientists, and citizens can align their efforts, we are helping build a stronger network for nature-based solutions across the entire Mediterranean basin.
We are proud to stand alongside DesirMED, Centro de Cooperación para el Mediterráneo to highlight how cross-border collaboration and institutional alignment are essential to safeguarding our shared land and sea🌍✨

¡Mañana empieza lo bueno en Málaga! 🚀

Si algo tenemos claro en Giant Interactive Maps, es que ninguna ciudad avanza del todo si camina sola. El VI Congreso Smart City RECI RECI y Greencities son la excusa perfecta para encontrarnos, compartir ideas y alinear a municipios de todos los tamaños. Cuando los ayuntamientos colaboran y suman experiencias, las decisiones locales cobran otro nivel ✨

Y para hacer de esa colaboración algo muy tangible, aprovechamos esta imagen para enseñaros otra de las herramientas estrella de nuestro mapa gigante: la realidad aumentada 📱✨

En la foto podéis ver cómo se disfruta interactuando en directo con el globo terráqueo en 3D, un desarrollo que creamos especialmente para la campaña de sensibilización de los ODS por toda Andalucía. Es increíble ver cómo la tecnología, cuando se toca y se vive en primera persona, conecta al instante a técnicos, alcaldes y ciudadanía con los retos de nuestro planeta 🫂

La soberanía de los datos urbanos cobra sentido únicamente cuando respeta la identidad de cada territorio🫀

La tecnología no puede aplicarse como una solución estandarizada: es un aliado estratégico que los gobiernos locales deben saber moldear, entendiendo que cada municipio tiene su propia personalidad, sus ritmos y sus necesidades únicas. De nada sirve desplegar algoritmos complejos o gemelos digitales si no logran traducir esa singularidad local en una gobernanza más justa, accesible y humana. El verdadero éxito de la innovación pública radica en poner las herramientas avanzadas al servicio de la esencia y la ciudadanía de cada pueblo y ciudad.
Sobre este equilibrio entre identidad local, marcos éticos e Inteligencia Artificial se debatirá en el VI Congreso Smart City RECI RECI y Greencities los próximos 15 y 16 de septiembre en FYCMA (Málaga) 🌐📍
