The recent 2020 Tokyo Olympics have brought bikinis and scrimpy uniforms worn by female athletes into the spotlight. Following the example of the Norwegian Women’s Beach Handball team, who protested against the sexist uniform rules and played with fitted shorts instead of the mandatory bikinis in a major European competition, the British retired track and field athlete from England Jessica Ennis-Hill also expressed her fear of exposing herself and referred “skimpy kits” as traumatising elements for many young athletes, making them quit sports altogether.
Let’s take a minute to applaud and support these brave women, for taking such a laudable stance in the name of all athletes and fighting for inclusion, cultural exchange and equality at one of the most popular events in the world - the Olympics.
If you are feeling uncomfortable - say it, manifest it, change it!
Women in sports won’t be sexualized!
