To my fellow Ethiopians,

This week, our beloved homeland opens its arms to fellow Africans attending the AU meetings. These are friends who share the colors of our flag, who see Ethiopia as a beacon of freedom, and who regard our country as a cornerstone of political vision for the continent.

Let’s show them why Ethiopia is known for its unmatched hospitality. Let’s make them feel at home, greet them with respect, and embrace them with love. Together, let’s honor the spirit of African unity that our flag represents and the shared dreams that connect us all.

4 Foundations of Strategy

1) Strategic Thinking - MINDSET - THINKING
2) Strategic Planning - PROCESS - DOING
3) Strategy Design, Formulation - FOCUS, PRIORITIZATION - THINKING
4) Strategy Ex*****on, Implementation - HABIT - DOING

1) Strategic Thinking & 2) Strategic Planning

➡️ Strategic Thinking is a mindset interwoven in creativity, futuristic thinking, challenging status quo, cultivating imagination.
(See my post on strategic thinking: https://lnkd. in/gfKj5NyT)
➡️ Strategic Planning is the process an organization following sequencing activities, analysis, alignment and prioritization.

Several leaders focus more on the strategic planning process and less on the strategic thinking and mindsets that enhance strategic planning. I encourage all strategy sessions and leadership development to bring mindset training as a foundation.

See my posts on mindsets: https://lnkd. in/gMXWMvtp

https://lnkd. in/gMn_CBPH

3) Strategy Design, Formulation & 4) Strategy Ex*****on, Implementation

➡️ Strategy Design & Formulation is about the alignment and articulation of the strategy.
➡️ Strategy Ex*****on/Implementation is the follow-through and the management of the action plan and progress.

Strategy Design & Formulation is frequently overcomplicated. There are no shortage of tools and approaches for the strategy design. Strategy designs needs to be less about the toolkit (SWOT, PESTEL, OKRs, etc..), more about the alignment and cohesion of the leadership team. Hence an inclusive facilitation of the strategy design/formulation is critical.

Strategy Ex*****on frequently focuses on creating linear action plans and in practice, the implementation faces many obstacles in terms of mindsets and habits. Another challenge is the movement between collective actions and personal action plans. I have built an approach and methodology of implementation coaching, holding leaders capable and accountable for implementing their action plans.

10 Leadership Mistakes to Avoid When Leading a Team.

Are you a leader facing challenges in your team management? Try to avoid all the following pitfalls when leading your team:

💡1. Lack of Clear Communication
Poor communication breeds confusion. Be clear, transparent, and encourage open dialogue.

💡2. Micromanaging
Over-controlling limits creativity and trust. Empower your team and guide when necessary.

💡3. Ignoring Feedback
Dismissing input leads to disengagement. Actively listen and use feedback to improve.

💡4. Inconsistency
Unpredictable behavior creates uncertainty. Be fair, reliable, and consistent in expectations.

💡5. Avoiding Accountability
Failing to own mistakes damages credibility. Lead by taking responsibility.

💡6. Neglecting Team Development
Without growth, teams stagnate. Invest in learning, training, and career progression.

💡7. Creating a Negative Culture
Focusing only on mistakes fuels toxicity. Recognize wins and celebrate progress.

💡8. Overlooking Work–Life Balance
Burnout reduces performance. Encourage balance and sustainable workloads.

💡9. Failing to Inspire
Teams need purpose. Share a clear vision and motivate people toward shared goals.

💡10. Not Leading by Example
Your actions set the standard. Model the values and work ethic you expect to see

Avoiding these leadership pitfalls builds trust, engagement, and a high-performing team where success can thrive.

🚀 8 Signs of a Transformational Leader.

Transformational leadership isn’t about titles or authority—it’s about impact. The leaders who truly change organizations (and people) tend to share these traits:

1️⃣ They inspire a clear, compelling vision
Transformational leaders paint a clear, motivating picture of the future and help people see how their work matters in the bigger story.

2️⃣ They lead by example, not ego
Their behavior matches their values. They model integrity, work ethic, curiosity, and accountability—earning trust through action, not titles.

3️⃣ They empower others to grow and lead
Instead of controlling, they coach. They invest in developing skills, confidence, and leadership in others, even if it means being outshined.

4️⃣ They encourage innovation and challenge the status quo
These leaders welcome new ideas, question assumptions, and create psychological safety so people aren’t afraid to think differently or fail forward.

5️⃣ They communicate with purpose and empathy
Transformational leaders listen deeply, communicate clearly, and adapt their message to connect with people emotionally as well as intellectually.

6️⃣ They build trust through consistency and care
They genuinely care about people as individuals, not just roles. Trust is built through consistency, fairness, and respect.

7️⃣ They motivate through meaning, not fear
Rather than relying on authority or pressure, they tap into intrinsic motivation—purpose, mastery, and shared values.

8️⃣ They create lasting change, not just short-term wins
Their impact outlives them. They build cultures, systems, and mindsets that continue to thrive even when they step away.

The best leaders don’t just drive results—they elevate everyone around them.

💬 Which of these do you think matters most in today’s workplace?
