I do appreciate an oversized take on a hot trend - it's funny how a look can start looking too comfortable or even a bit staid when we get used to seeing everyone in the same thing 🥱 but hey, that's human nature for you 🤷‍♀️

And then someone goes XXL on it & it's like yeaaaah!! Bring on the mid-week glamour 🪄 ↔️👖💙

Nothing says summer quite like a straw bag! 🌞

So I'm kicking off the week with some holiday capsule inspo - I love all these shapes but for sheer practicality the tote (with perhaps a clutch popped inside to hold those small but essential items & make the transition to evening?😎) would likely be my pick...💚🍋🧡

Thursday is traditionally vernissage – or exhibition opening – day in France, so you can quite often find yourself criss-crossing town during the evening, attending multiple events at different art galleries! 👩🏻‍🎨👨🏼‍🎨

The advantage of going on opening night is that the artist is usually there, the welcome is warm, and you can invariable admire their creative endeavours with a glass of something in hand…🥂🖼

So last week I set myself a style challenge – no jeans! To get into the creative/design icon mood I reached for one of my dad’s vintage ties (a floral Liberty print from, I am guessing, the 1960s), and was chuffed to be praised for my colour choices by one the artists – a mistress of colours herself! 🎨

Now who doesn’t love a good Liberty print?! 🌸🌼🪻🏵🌷

I'm lucky enough have two Liberty ties in my dad's collection - a gorgeous floral one in cotton from the 50s or 60s, not dissimilar to this one in spirit, and a silk version in an abstract pattern that I bought him on a trip to London in 1987!

I styled up the older one last week for an evening of gallery hopping across Paris - style-on-the-fly segment up soon! 👔

Meanwhile this lovely example was designed in 1933 & 🩷🩵💛🧡

Been obsessed with coloured gemstones all my life, they just feel so deliciously joyful to me 🩵🩷💜🤎

Sometimes, you come across a thrifted gem that is perhaps not as pre-loved as others, because the tags are still on and it clearly hasn’t been worn – as was the case with the subject of today’s style tutorial – Spanish style! 🪭
