My intro post was in need of a refresh! I’m Natalie and I am based in Aberdeenshire.

Social media has been part of my work life for a number of years and in 2025 I decided to turn it into a wee business. I love all the small local businesses we have in this area and I love helping them promote their services!

What’s the BEST time to post on social media? 👀

It’s one of the questions I get asked and the answer isn’t as simple as “post at 6pm” anymore.

Recent research from Buffer analysed over 52 million social media posts and found that while there are general trends for engagement (check out their "cheat sheet" below), consistency and audience behaviour matter far more than chasing a magic posting time.

A few interesting insights:

✨ Weekday mornings and afternoons often perform best
✨ Midweek usually sees higher engagement
✨ Audiences behaviour depends on industry, age, lifestyle and timezone

That’s why “active times” in Meta Insights should be used as a guide, not a strict rule.

One of the best strategies? 📊
Test different posting times, monitor what performs best and adjust based on YOUR audience behaviour, not generic internet advice.

Sometimes posting slightly before your audience becomes active can actually help your content gain traction before feeds become crowded.

At the end of the day, strong content + consistency will always beat obsessing over the “perfect” posting time.
